I don't really know about Dave Chappelle as a thinker or a political voice. Seems to me that really creative people can often be, well, a little nutty and a lot self-obsessed.

But I love Chappelle as a wordsmith. He's got this visceral style that a wordy writer like me can only envy. In this video:

I liked the part where Chappelle thanked his fans making him rich.

He can be very funny.
It's hard to make preaching funny, but not impossible.
Chappelle was preaching, and failed to make it funny.

What I enjoy is Chapelle's abilities to base an entire career on race baiting and instilling cross-cultural tension and hostility. That takes real talent.
