Wow, Rise of Skywalker is even worse than predicted. Everyone thought they were going to pull ridiculous shit out their ass to explain their way back to a coherent plot, most likely time travel since Abrams wrote the thing.

Instead, he just didn't bother. Nothing is explained. Palpatine is back "just because". They once again have to chase two magical artifacts that will form a magic map when combined "just because", and then none of it matters.
