I think of it the other way around. I think most people, if they had a charmed life, were born rich, and never suffered any consequences for their actions, would turn out more or less like this. having a charmed life tends to make you into the absolute worst sort of person.

While I agree with gravelstudios, I don't think the converse applies. Adversity and oppression doesn't generally make you a better person.

As usual, it's about balance: take away the legit suffering but also make people accountable and require them to contribute in their own way.
