God I hate the unsteady camera work as an indicator of reality and authenticity.

Nothing's more authentic than a camera guy having a seizure!

I'm glad this shit (Conservative 'work ethic') is getting called out more these days.

My employer has hid a nasty little secret for the past 18 years. They merged with another company back in 2001. Said company had an invisible line going through the area of the country that housed the business footprint. Everything north of that line is unionized. Due to... Whatever... the suits could not take a sledgehammer to it post merger. So they created a sternly and I mean STERNLY enforced unwritten rule. Nobody south of the line is supposed to know about the unionization. If you mention that at all that's the end for you. The 'U' word is not to be spoken.

On a tangentially related note I just left my job at a semi-struggling corporate owned business because they were “unable” (read: unwilling, until i handed them my 2 weeks) to give a large enough raise for my qualifications.

Got same post-raise pay rate at the new place despite not having relevant brand experience and couple thousand dollars hiring bonus.

If your job sucks get out while you can. Labor market is hot and an economic crash -is- coming.

I recommend watching the whole episode.

The innkeeper fancies himself an art collector and has a bunch of rented shipping containers full of stuff behind the hotel. He keeps saying he will use it to fill the hotel with fine art. Gordon convinces him to sell off most of it to help put the hotel on better financial footing.

An art appraiser comes in and goes through the containers. It turns out all of the stuff is reproductions and practically worthless.

I felt bad for this asshole's poor partner. He had retired & sold off his business and was watching his retirement fund eaten up by his love's stupid vanity project.
