Especially since she didn't actually apologize. She initially said it was "fake news", and then said ""It was not my intent to deceive or mislead anyone. I made a mistake in saying that I completed my degree."

You can't apologize for lies and fraud, if you deny engaging in lies and fraud. She apologized to her supporters for her 'mistake' harming her campaign, but lies outright still that she faked evidence on purpose.

She adopted the Trump model. It doesn't matter how unambiguous the evidence is, lie and tell your base you'll pander to them, and just ride it out. The difference is the GOP hasn't harnessed themselves to her and so won't protect her.

I don't understand why, because it's so easy to catch, but politicians faking degrees is a thing.

Consider Heather Bresch (daughter of democratic senator Joe Manchin) who faked her MBA. High level university officials *went to the mat for her* (presumably because they knew that they'll be rewarded for their loyalty after).

Faking degrees is a standard play in politics, not much to do with Trump.
