I wonder if they had volcano insurance?

Also their property wont even be beachfront anymore.
Man, the ownership laws surrounding newly created land are probably tricky.

I was watching a really cringy volcano stream ran by some douchebag.

He was really talking down to people who evacuated too early. You were 'Just supposed to stay until you got dragged off' as some kind of keeping up appearances thing. Kept mentioning 'Hawaii has a huge homeless problem'. What he seemed to be getting at was it was better to have Pele fry your ass than add to those ranks and create problems for everybody else. "Mah property!" is the only way to maintain you place on Hawaii's social hierarchy. What a bullshit existence and even funnier that the threat of a volcano could make these guys into a dreaded homeless at any time has them fretting endlessly in their McMansions.

I hope he was the one who got nailed by that lava bomb. :D

It's a baffling place to try to build a 21st century civil infrastructure.

I can actually see Fissure #8 that is producing all the lava from my front lanai. It's about 40km away, but still pretty amazing.

Lava zone 1 is a bit risky for my liking, but most of us on the Big Island of Hawaii are just living on risky real estate anyway. Mauna Loa will probably cover mine sometime in the next couple of hundred years.

R.I.P. Vacationland. It was fun knowing you.
