God damn it.

I did not need this on top of everything else. Fuck you, universe.

Maggot Brain - 2018-04-11

"Excelsior, e-x-c-e-l-s-i-o-r"

god damn it! ):

il fiore bel - 2018-04-11

This man deserves better, especially after all he's given to the world over nearly 80 years.

Goddamnit.

fedex - 2018-04-11

Being old does suck, I just got word my 97-year old dad is drowning in his own phlegm and probably wont make through the week.

Fuck entropy

15th - 2018-04-11

Sorry to hear that.

fedex - 2018-04-11

Thanks man appreciate it

Meerkat - 2018-04-12

My dad had dementia; man that is the worst, worst, worst way to go. I wouldn't wish that on anybody. I hope Stan passes before he gets like my dad.

yogarfield - 2018-04-12

My condolences.

chumbucket - 2018-04-12

That sucks fedex. I have nothing else to say other than realizing that just totally sucks.

fedex - 2018-04-12

yeah my dad has had dementia for a couple of years, so to us he's already somewhat departed. That plus the drowning in your own phlegm makes for a shitty exit.

Aernaroth2 - 2018-04-12

There's no easy exits, I guess.. My condolences to you and yours.

Meerkat - 2018-04-13

Someone once said "the only good thing about dementia is you forget to be scared."

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2018-04-13

My heartfelt condolences. My Dad just turned 82, and I just turned 60. Its terrifying, but its comforting to see my Dad having the time of his life.

I don't know what to make of this clip, it may be nothing.

He's more of an old friend than a hero I've known his name for almost as long as I've been able to read. I hope he's in front of a green screen right now, filming 20 years years worth of future cameo appearances.

decoy - 2018-04-11

How do we know he's being exploited? Even if he is a bit foggy at this point couldn't it be that this is what he wants? He's been there for the fans doing conventions his whole adult life. Is it so hard to imagine that that's what he'd rather be doing at 97 instead of sitting in a room alone waiting on the reaper?

crojo - 2018-04-11

There's a bit more going on than what's in this video. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/features/stan-lee-needs-a-hero-e lder-abuse-claims-a-battle-aging-marvel-creator-1101229

M-DEEM - 2018-04-11

Stop making this old man write his name on your stupid shit

chumbucket - 2018-04-12

So are the people receiving the autographed copies there to see this go on? I'd be like "no fckn way I'm putting this poor man through this". What a travesty.

Ugh - 2018-04-11

stan lee's new superhero, a human being controlled by greedy cordyceps

Ugh - 2018-06-13

welp, his business manager is now under arrest, hopefully this'll all have a happier ending

cognitivedissonance - 2018-04-12

Meanwhile, Steve Ditko lives on on spite and bile, the last of Ayn Rand's inner circle to hold on before joining her in eternal damnation.

Xenocide - 2018-04-12

Ditko is such a total recluse, though, that it's hard to be sure if he's even still around. As far as I can tell he hasn't made any public statements in six years, but on the other hand that's not unusual for him.

cognitivedissonance - 2018-04-12

He will eventually emerge but only once Stan is dead.

Seven Arts/H8 Red - 2018-04-12

Once Lee and Ditko both die, I expect Al Jaffee will be ready to go with a timely Mad Fold-in.

You People Are Idiots - 2018-04-12

Stan denies it and is lawyering up to sue ppl over
the claims btw

Ugh - 2018-04-12

"stan"

You People Are Idiots - 2018-04-12

Portal Of Soul-Crippling Depression

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2018-04-13

The person in the video, son or grandson or whatever, seems impatient, which, lets face it, is something that can happen to anyone who has been following a 99 year old man around all day, and watching him sign a million comic books. Kevin Smith has opened his home to Stan Lee, so he's got a place to go. That's all that anyone can do for him.

Since I can't do anything, I'm going to disregard the rumours. Whatever the truth is, he clearly doesn't want to be thought of as a victim of elder abuse, and he shouldn't be. Stan Lee is an amazing man, who's done amazing things, and had an amazing life, including an amazing old age.

He's in decline now, which is something that happens to everyone. I hope that he's comfortable, because he deserves it. But nobody can ever take away that he's Stan Fucking Lee. "Excelsior" may not apply to Stan Lee personally anymore, but his vision continues ever upward. Black Panther is still in Theaters, and Infinity Wars is about to break. To call these Blockbusters is something of an understatement. I stopped reading comic books went the price went over a dollar. I remember when they were 12 cents. But oh, I love those movies!
