This reminds me -- I was in a rush and got a McDonald's burger on the way home and it didn't make me sick to my stomach. Usually I get sick. I think maybe because I didn't get fries.

Burger King gives me astonishing gas. Wendy's seems OK though.

I wonder what the general Japanese person thinks of low wage work(ers). Park time work often comes up a lot in anime and I cant really remember an example of it being portrayed as a terrible occupation meant for idiots and losers, in the way it often is in America.

Japan seems to hold a general cultural philosophy of "everyone contribute to the common good" as opposed to America's "everyone compete to get ahead." Since society has decided it's good (or at least, convenient) to have fast cheap burgers, it then follows that society needs people to serve them, and therefore working at McDonald's does not make you a loser.

But what DOES make you a loser is if you don't devote your full being to your job. In America, the trade-off with shitty minimum wage employment is that you can be lazy as hell and people don't much care; no one expects much from you since you have a "loser job." In Japan, people will respect you and the work you do, but in exchange you are expected to dedicate your life to goddamn Happy Meals, or you'll be seen as a disgrace. You decide which is worse.
