No amount of cutting will redeem the SOTU.

This isn't jokes, it's pure rage and vulgarity delivered with perfect comic timing, at someone who certainly deserves to be insulted. That makes it kind of brave and brilliant for the first two minutes, the part where I was laughing. Basically, I loved it. She had me at "PUKE". Here's five stars.

PS I know not what course others might take, but as for me, I don't hate Donald Trump, and my intuition is that hating Donald is the one thing that can save him politically. Hate is what makes the Right so loathesome. I think of Trump as my angry racist Uncle who died of a heart attack in his forties. I don't think Uncle Jimmy was a bad person, but if he was running for president, I wouldn't vote for him.

The problem with Trump isn't that he's a bad person. I mean, maybe he is is a bad person, but that's not THE PROBLEM. The problem is that he's in the White House. Thinking of him as a bad person, and hating him personally, may take your eye off the ball.

I hate Trump.

His policies are odious. He openly race baits, and inspires people that should not be inspired. He had no desire to become president or to accomplish anything, and his executing consists of thrashing around and damaging things, not working towards any goal.

He is making America a worse place, simply to service his narcissism. That damage will not be undone by a few elections.

I think it's safe to say he's a horrible person.

But I agree that focusing on his personal odiousness TO THE EXCLUSION OF the bigger picture of the GOP agenda and his place in it is stupid and counterproductive and if the DNC doesn't get over that it's going to lose them another election in 2020.

I'm a white male American baby boomer. There's no part of that identity that isn't fucking embarrassing right now. I'm dependent on social programs that are about to be gutted, I've recently suffered a major personal tragedy, and I'm less than two months away from my sixtieth birthday. I don't have time to spin my wheels hating on President Clownshoes. I don't think anybody does.

Are you predicting when his heard gives out? They're going to delay the 2020 elections indefinitely because of "ongoing investigation into voter fraud" so that's the only way we're likely to be rid of him.

The investigation into voter fraud is dead because the states refused to cooperate. Trump's the most unpopular president since voting began, so, with any luck, the Democrats will take at least the House (the Senate is now said to be in play) and Trump will be unable to enact legislation, and subject to investigation. As long as nothing fucked-up happens between now and November.

I predict based on all the evidence we see before us that he will die of heart related issues before the end of his term. I'm not hoping for that, but statistically it's just very hard to believe that his body will be able to withstand the pressure he's putting on it.
