These goons are insufferable.

betamaxed - 2017-07-07

Agree. The RLM clods are absolute shit at what they do

Two Jar Slave - 2017-07-07

They don't have much to say in this one, but I do like the point that the whole "Is Harrison Ford a sexbot?? IS HE??" question just muddies the story. Some people argue he's a sexbot and others argue he's not a sexbot, but I've never seen someone argue that the whole sexbot conversation is pointless and distracting from an otherwise good, coherent story about a guy learning the value of life from a bunch of machines. So, that's why I liked the vid.

Also, that Ridley Scott quote is damning.

Gmork - 2017-07-07

You're both fucking idiots, thanks for confirming (again).

misterbuns - 2017-07-07

Philip k who?

Can i one star this again

Nominal - 2017-07-07

Goons shitting on Ridley Scott's revisionism.

Old_Zircon - 2017-07-07

In the original shooting script there is another scene that would happen right around where the credits roll in the original cut, in which Decker shoots her by the side of the road and then keeps driving.

Also the awful voiceover is in there, that wasn't "added by the studio" or whatever.

I didn't watch this but that Ridley Scott quote is great and The Duelist is fantastic.

Old_Zircon - 2017-07-07

I also love Beavis and Butthead.

Two Jar Slave - 2017-07-07

Duh!

Oscar Wildcat - 2017-07-07

That's interesting, why was it cut I wonder? I guess you would need the whole second police station staffed with androids scene, and Decker getting bailed out by another questionably android bounty hunter, where the whole idea of the bounty hunters being android like ( or becoming androids ) is explored in depth. The other bounty hunter turns out to be human, and gives Decker the advice that if he wants to stay in the game he needs to fuck an android then kill it. Yes, this is all in the book. I am not making this up.

Two Jar Slave - 2017-07-07

It's very possible that Philly Dee had some good ideas but wasn't a very good writer.

Old_Zircon - 2017-07-07

I've got no clue about the why, we had some hard copies in the school library when I was in 9th grade (the screenwriter was an uncle of a kid who went there in the 80s) and they let me and my friends take them when they were doing some weeding but beyond that I don't know much about it. I don't know if this is the exact revision I've got but this has the ending I'm talking about. I misremembered the specifics of how Deckard kills Rachel, but he does.

Old_Zircon - 2017-07-07

The later shooting script actually has a whole different, action movie ending with them driving off into the sunset in a hail of bullets car chase. It's terrible.

Oscar Wildcat - 2017-07-08

As I remember from the book, a physical manifestation of Mercer appears to Decker when he's at the end of his hunt for the remaining androids. He pops up from behind some shrubbery, and gives Decker crucial tactical information about where in the conapt each is hiding, and to kill Rachael first. The information proves accurate, and Decker is successful. Yet, Mercer is a fraud, an old actor put up by a hollywood movie company to make a new religion. Buster Friendly and his Friendly Friends proved it just that evening.

Decker struggles with this paradox, and his own feelings of sin killing the androids. Later, he finds a frog, which he believes to be real, but is also an android. He cares for the frog as if it were real.

You see. without the crucial frog motif, THE MOVIE IS SHITE!!

StanleyPain - 2017-07-07

I like a lot of Scott's movies, but he has always been kind of an asshole. This is why I'm glad he left the BR2049 movie in favor of doing Covenant, because even if the movie is bad, at least it was made by honest artists trying to do something interesting and not Scott who has kinda stopped being interesting in actual "filmmaking" a long time ago and just wants to win some imaginary war of attrition with his movies.

Anything not featuring Mike automatically loses a star, but RedLetterMedia are still some of the only YouTube personalities I can tolerate.

Old_Zircon - 2017-07-07

I'm pretty much down to Salvia Erik and Matt Easton at this point.

Bisekrankas - 2017-07-07

Kim Jusice is a very decent channel that also has some pretty great video game history, I especially recommend the Peter Molyneux series.

Your taste in everything is dogshit.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2017-07-07

And your taste in everything is horseshit.

Your point?

I haven't watched more than 5 minutes of these guys. I thought they were poetv darlings? What happened?

That quote is badass. The fucker made Alien.

Gmork - 2017-07-07

Nobody important has downvoted them.

namtar - 2017-07-08

2 stars because this video was so lazy and boring. The only funny bit was the quote.

It's weird that Jay complained about Blade Runner being boring, but they spent most of the video talking about the same thing over and over.
