EvilHomer - 2016-11-18

I don't think Waugh works at Starbucks, Gmork.

Waugh - 2016-11-18

yeah you're the one who probably works at starbucks

Squeamish - 2016-11-20

Waugh?

EvilHomer - 2016-11-18

Cameras start mid-exchange. What led up to the part we are seeing?

Monkey Napoleon - 2016-11-18

It really doesn't matter. Like, really. There is no context in which this behavior is acceptable.

EvilHomer - 2016-11-18

Maybe, maybe not. But despite the famous maxim, the customer is NOT always right, and I would prefer to have all the facts before passing judgement on the poor Starbucks employee...!

For example, is THIS behavior ever acceptable:
http://www.poetv.com/video.php?vid=156914&what=VOTING
Without knowing the behavior which led up to the exchange caught on camera, how can we say for certain? Context is important, and only the most partisan and willfully-biased of observers would deny this fact.

Cena_mark - 2016-11-18

I think it may have to do with the #Trumpcup. I saw a stupid thing on facebook that said Trump supporters should tell the baristas that their name is Trump so that the barista will have to yell that name when it's ready thus making the liberals at Starbucks cry. I think this barista didn't feel like playing this man-child's game.

Xenocide - 2016-11-18

#trumpcup is a beautiful example of how little the Trumpsters actually think things through. Yes, let's punish Starbucks by giving them a ton of extra business from people who usually never set foot in their establishment. That'll show 'em.

Baristas routinely deal with comedy geniuses who want them to write "POOP" or "COCKS" down as the name on their cups. By the end of an eight hour shift, no one who's worked at Starbucks for more than a week is likely to even remember the idiot who asked them to write "TRUMP."

Monkey Napoleon - 2016-11-18

Coincidentally, in the past 10 days or so I've watched probably a combined 20 hours worth of "public freak out" compilations on youtube.

I don't think it makes any kind of difference whatsoever, but I've seen videos of white customers shouting "nigger" at black employees for minutes at a time and the angrier and more unhinged they seem, the more I kinda question if they're actually racist or if they're just entitled rage junkie baby garbage people. It makes a twisted kind of sense to bust that kind of stuff out on someone if your goal is to go full on toddler rage tantrum and you're trying to upset them.

In a lot of these videos (a shocking number of them, actually) the tantrum customer will confess to having previous issues with the service. This kind of boggles my mind more than anything.

Sanest Man Alive - 2016-11-18

I look at that vest-shirt combo and keep expecting Basil Rathbone to leap onscreen and try to skewer him. Or maybe that's just what I hoped would happen.

Oscar Wildcat - 2016-11-18

The Duke D'Douchebag and his lady, Madame Nozzle, scourging a poor for it's sinful status.

bawbag - 2016-11-19

The waistcoat and dad jeans look is practically every office 'libertarian' I've ever met. The kind of libertarians who bore everyone endlessly with their clichéd talking points and wax lyrical about how they're not a 'conservative' but then vote straight-ticket conservative in every election anyway.

SixDigitDebt - 2016-11-18

I couldn't help but picture Fox News getting a hold of this.

StanleyPain - 2016-11-18

The guy was predictably called out on social media. His apology was basically what you'd expect from the shitheads that comprise Trump supporters; basically "I'm sorry I got mad that racism was done to me."

SolRo - 2016-11-18

Not sure that's any better than 'I'm sorry...that you got offended by what I said'

StanleyPain - 2016-11-19

Right, which was my point. It was the usual non apology bullshit far right loons might as well have tattooed on their foreheads these days.

bawbag - 2016-11-19

"Previous bad days: the one in 2008 when he was arrested on a DUI charge. The one a week later when he was again charged with DUI. And the day in 2014 when he was charged with domestic violence, which was later dropped. And there were all those days, going back years, when he emailed the Miami Herald with rants against Cubans, women, immigrants, gays and lesbians, President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton."

StanleyPain - 2016-11-19

Oh it gets better. NOW he's claiming it was his medications.

SolRo - 2016-11-18

The Trump zerglings are now "boycotting" starbucks because of this by telling baristas their name is Trump and having them call it out.

Isn't it great when baristas don't even have to guess whose cups to spit in?

Miss Henson's 6th grade class - 2016-11-18

Their name is Robert Paulson

Oscar Wildcat - 2016-11-18

He looks an awful like like zombie Andrew Breitbart.

cognitivedissonance - 2016-11-19

Vicious, violent, angry paying for a service rendered.

StanleyPain - 2016-11-19

Oh no no..they're not boycotting them! They are gonna make all libruls everywhere cry themselves to sleep by going into Starbucks' and telling them....
THEIR NAME IS "TRUMP" so now the baristas have to write it on the cup!! THAT WILL SHOW US!

Redford - 2016-11-19

"It's not a Protest, it's a statement!"

Xenocide - 2016-11-19

Honest question: Why are Trump supporters so damn angry and bitter? They seem to be even more miserable since their guy won the election. They seem to be reacting the exact same way to the Trump victory as they would have to a Hillary win.

SolRo - 2016-11-19

The same reason they've been miserable shits their whole lives; it's easier to blame others and think you're a victim than to live with the fact that you're an insufferable selfish prick.

bawbag - 2016-11-19

Good question. I think it's because they realise on some level that the taste of this kind of 'victory' is ashes in their mouths, and that mocking Hillary or her voters has a 'best before' date coming up real soon; around the time that this fucking ambulatory toupée and his cabinet of nightmare flunkies and rat-roach hybrids are supposed to 'make america great again'.

I think there's also an aspect of them beginning to grok that sinking this ship drowns them just as much as their two minutes of hate lib-sjw-blm-jew-feminizm eternal enemies.

Less loud and obnoxious are the people who're already showing the same nascent signs of regret over trump as the 'regrexit' people did before they were shouted over by the 'brexit till we die' cultists. Same thing seems to be happening in the pro-trump pages online, lots of infighting and purity testing.

bawbag - 2016-11-19

I'd look to Rob Ford's mayoral stint as a smaller-scale idea of how a Trump presidency will pan out, I've a feeling we'll be witnessing much the same progression of fuckwittery.

StanleyPain - 2016-11-19

This is why I'm getting so fucking exhausted with this namby-pamby, bullshit left-wing narrative now that the election was "people who are fed up with politics" voting against the system and we need to understand that; it wasn't about hatred or racism.

Absolute Bullshit. This was people voting out their bitterness and hatred and self-loathing onto other people. They don't give a shit about themselves...they wanted to hurt everyone in the country and enforce their own horrible bigotry and negativity onto everyone else. They don't give a shit about "issues", they just want to make sure people suffer because that's the only fucking way they can exist.

Hazelnut - 2016-11-19

61 million people voted for Trump (versus 63m for Hillary). It's possible they didn't all vote for the same reason.

But yeah: I'm pretty sure the bitterness, hate, self-loathing, straight-up bigotry was a bigger factor than the "forgotten rural people" narrative, which mostly seems to be a way for coastal liberals to feel less awful about how horrid much of the electorate is.

Bort - 2016-11-19

They are acting angry and bitter because they are exactly the angry, bitter assholes we feared they were. They don't do grace, they just know enough not to act out unless they think they can get away with it.

Oscar Wildcat - 2016-11-19

This thread is great: but seriously, do none of you have Republican relatives? You all sound like this is some kind of novel thing. Spite, greed and selfishness is pretty much baked right in to the party at this point.

That said, there is a great deal of embarrassment and shame associated with this election. Consider my sister in law, an evangelical christian. Now, she volunteers at her local food bank, and there are plenty of brown people who come in looking for help. She also goes down to Honduras regularly to help build housing for the poor.

So here we are. Her president, the guy she voted for, calls these people rapists and murderers and wants to deport them. When they come to her church looking for sanctuary, will she turn them away? Will she tell the authorities when they come looking where the illegals are ( she knows, she helps them ). These aren't abstract questions, they're policy that is now being considered.

So yeah, everyone is nervous. I'm sure a great many Trump voters did so thinking they could get away with it without having the guy actually elected. Turns out, democracy doesn't work that way. Who knew?

dairyqueenlatifah - 2016-11-19

ABLOO ABLOO I DIDN'T GET MY WAY AND YOU'RE A DIFFERENT RACE THAN ME THEREFORE RACISM!

Wait, how would they have even known you voted for Trump in the first place if that's why they were supposedly mistreating you?
