I thought it was beautiful. Lots of people are hurting over this, and it was good for those people. Also, as a very progressive democrat that lives in West Virginia, I agree that a lot of working class (and poor) whites voted for Trump because rural communities have been left to rot and fester by economic forces beyond their control. But there is also a ton of racism, sexism, xenophobia and homophobia bubbling just under the surface. I see it all the time. I know people who STILL believe wholeheartedly that Obama is the antichrist. Their opinions are informed almost entirely by religious superstition, country music, and fox news. It's easy for liberals in New York or San Francisco to say we lost because the democrats don't reach out to these people, but I'm here to tell you that it's hard to reach them without pandering to their irrational ideas, and I don't want to see the democratic party stoop that low. I don't know what the answer is. Sorry for the wall of text.

Trump's already sold out and it's not been a full week even. Bonus for Liberals? Trump acknowledged being taken to the woodshed by Hopie. It was epic, by all accounts. A 90 minute lecture on presidenting from a professor of presidenting. Like a shot of DMT injected directly into Don's brain via the tear duct. That's why he looked so shell shocked at the presser. He knows he's in over his head.

Trump screamed about destroying Obamacare for 18 months, Obama talked to him for 90 minutes, and afterward Donald began walking it all back and saying he would keep some or all of the ACA. It was beautiful in its way.

I think our ideal solution is that Obama needs to keep living in the White House, but secretly. Once a week he pops out of some hiding place or throws off a disguise, like Team Rocket but competent, then he grabs Trump and takes him into a room and just talks to him about policy for an hour. Then he puts him right back where he found him, and watches as a horrified shell-shocked Trump does whatever Obama asked of him.

This will continue for the entire three months of Trump's presidency.

Obama's demeanor as a community organizer could well come in handy here. It occurs to me that maybe Trump isn't evil, just incredibly fucking stupid and willfully ignorant; the subtle difference being, the stupid and ignorant have no inherent preference for evil, and can be manipulated into doing good.

Obama was happy to continue the legacy of Bush, so why wouldn't Trump be happy to continue Obama's?
