I agree. It seems like there are fewer people like this on the internet these days. I think a lot of them have been driven off by trolling. Back in the Geocities days, creators like this didn't necessarily know who their audience was, so they just kept on doing their thing, but now thanks to social media, they know when they're being mocked and they quit after a while.

I think we found the Max Headroom video pirate! Any chance she's from Chicago? That audio does sound like some pirate radio audio I've heard, at least.

I miss the earlier web when I got it in the late 1990s and there were many individualistic souls out there. I looked at a lot of collections and fan pages for things I like, and people wrote anything.

That's what I thought too, when I try to keep my distance from social media, too much feedback can affect your craft. I don't know about the trolling, you'd get used to that if you're eccentric, but you can start to play to expectations instead of being free with what you do.

Another problem with social media, aside from discouraging creativity, is they want your real ID tied to everything on line.

I have a pet toad and wish I could show her this, but she might want to hop on my face then. The frog with shoulders singing and dancing while catching flies is the best!
