EvilHomer - 2016-10-17
Product placement! Positive characters! "Unpatriotic" storylines in a franchise notorious for its close involvement with the US Department of Defense!
Oh no...?

EvilHomer - 2016-10-17 I should also point out that "rogue CIA operative goes nuts; terror ensues" (which, on the surface, is the only damning claim here) is actually one of the CIA's *preferred* storylines! Look at all the films produced under the direction of Chase Brandon, the CIA's pointman for Hollywood: Enemy of the State, The Recruit, Mission Impossible III, the Bourne films, etc. All of these movies play on that same basic trope: the central government is all-powerful, the central government is all-seeing, sometimes somebody within the central government goes rogue and dooms the whole planet but don't worry! The central government will eventually pull its act together and save you all (assuming you tell your congressman to give the CIA more money). In fact, it's likely that it was the Americans, not the Chinese, who were pushing that particular storyline.
Honestly, the only thing China's guilty of here is playing catch-up.

And having a huge market. Hollywood isn't alone in pandering to China for their yuan, WWE recently recruited their first ever Chinese talent.

TOP TEN CHINESE MOVIES INFILTRATED BY AMERICA
# 10 - In the Jackie Chan classic, "Exploding Danger Policeman 4," sharp-eyed viewers will notice a shirtless Kevin James slowly eating sausage links in the background of every single scene. This was done for reasons of patriotism.
