Gosh, now I find myself somehow, inexplicably, rooting for Donald Trump.

EvilHomer - 2016-07-31

He's going to win.

EvilHomer - 2016-07-31

Both the lawsuit and the presidency, I mean.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2016-07-31

I wish I had your confidence EvilHomer. I saw about 50 "I'm Ready for Hilary!" bumper stickers over a 30 minute drive today.

Cena_mark - 2016-07-31

But are you in a red or blue state?

gravelstudios - 2016-07-31

I live in Trump country and it's scaring me shitless. Although I think nationally it's likely that Hillary will squeak by.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2016-08-01

I'm in a swing state Cena.

Cena_mark - 2016-07-31

This needs an earworm warning. I've had "Over here (USA!), Over there (USA!)" stuck in my head for the last 20 minutes now.
I hate Trump, but I gotta take his side here. The "verbal contract" was probably just a "sure, maybe we'll let them perform again later." type thing. Now this petulant stage dad wants to cash in over it.

Lord_Crocodilicus - 2016-07-31

To be fair I've had "Over There" stuck in my head ever since I first heard it in 8th grade history class.

Old_Zircon - 2016-07-31

Same.

Someone the other day pointed out that regardless of the spuriousness of this, the fact that Trump would even let them on stage with only a verbal agreement says a lot about his skill as a businessman.

memedumpster - 2016-07-31

Isn't everything said during a campaign just a verbal agreement with America?

Cena_mark - 2016-07-31

So true. Trump has made a lot of those, as well as a verbal agreement to have Mexico pay for the wall.

SolRo - 2016-07-31

trump has a loooong history of taking advantage of people that actually believe his bullshit.

cognitivedissonance - 2016-07-31

I'm prepared for a Trump win. It will be awful, but the Shadow Apparatus and the Patrician Establishment and the Militart-Industrial Complex is also prepared. They have plans for him, that's why it was imperative that a Mike Pence be set up as the secondary. Trump should've put a Palin in as his VP, his life would've been secure. I'm prepared for a Trump win because it will put an end to the Trump children as well. They need to see consequences.

A Hilary win will only embolden the Trumpists. I expect open violence against minorities in ways we haven't seen since the end of Reconstruction. We'll see the white man's last gasp, marching in the streets, lynching, attempts to secede. The Trump children become a sort of Romanov family in exile. For forty years they'll direct the country's right a deeply dark way. Hilary herself will be impeached in six months, I have no expectation of anything else. Like Bill, military maneuvers will be launched to distract from her wounded administration. She's out in four, and if there's not a solidified Center-Right, which there won't be, either Trump or Trump Jr. Or Ivanka sails through in 2020, and whatever military action Hilary did to save herself will be allowed to fester into another black hole of anti-Americanism. The Trump faction would have a total war fantasy to barter with, and the party apparatchik the DNC runs will be hung for treason.

Of course this is all absurdist extrapolation in a mental fantasy, but unless Trump wins and is humiliated by a Velvet Revolution of the Center Right, his faction dominates the country for a generation. Unfortunately, the Center Right has no power, only money, and that money will be confiscated under a Trump regime. Either way, the dream of American Socialism is over. We'll suffer for even dreaming it, they'll guarantee that.

Or maybe I'm just bullshitting.

Old_Zircon - 2016-07-31

Once the water wars really start in earnest this is all going to seem like small potatoes.

The ball is already rolling.

Look to Hungary.

memedumpster - 2016-08-01

Come to Kentucky and take refuge in our Ark!

gmol - 2016-08-01

One thing I find sort of surreal is that the actual narrative of what is happening is somehow stranger than many fictions that could have been proposed.

Hillary suffered (what most of us would consider) a remarkable insult from her husband's infidelity. Her body woman married a prominent government official who went by the nom de plume "Carlos Danger" in his extra marital aspirations (conducted on a remarkably public medium). A house arrested (under charges of rape by an suspected CIA operative) founder of a cryptographically secure, off-shore, leak dissemination site has received the entire email trail of the Hillary the presidential candidate while she runs against a comically rude business man now running against her. As a result, every single political campaign will operate assuming their emails are being read, something members of the public have come to terms with some time ago from a the very same leak dissemination site.

Everyone is just interested to see what happens on the next page. Stranger than fiction.

Redford - 2016-08-01

The rest of the government did a fine job of blackballing Obama for all his charisma. Given how many people Trump is angering on both sides of the state right now, I can only wonder how many supporters he will have assuming he makes it into office.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2016-08-01

Clusterfuck 2016 is amazing.

Ninehells - 2016-08-01

If anything, American politics is a real bump to self-esteem, as you can take comfort that you aren't any of these people.

Jack Dalton - 2016-08-01

At the 55 sec mark-- tiny FaceTime man in top left hand-corner, and Freedom Kid looking out the back porch window hoping Freedom Dad spontaneously combusts.

Old_Zircon - 2016-08-02

That's my favorite part, too.
