I'd just like to direct ya'll over to Bo News, where the local berniebrotards have decided that brexit is actually a righteous backlash against globalism and 'neoliberalism' and any accusations of racism or xenophobia is just a smear campaign by Hillary KKKlinton.

I mean, not to put the love on for Brussels or the HRC

It's just that I don't see the prospects for The Revolution in the UK or US, respectively, rising significantly enough in the near or long term to justify the immediate and significant costs caused to those least able to bear them by Brexit or Trump, respectively

I guess if it's your theory that retarded people go to heaven and evil people don't, the college students peddling Spartacus Weekly are going to heaven

I'm not on Bo News for a reason, rather than ignorance of its existence.

Well, they're sort of right.

I mean it's not a "righteous" backlash, but it is a backlash against globalization, or rather the awful handling of globalization by the powers that be. The sad truth is that the lifting of millions of third-world laborers out of poverty was done to the detriment of the middle class in the developed world.

And yes, many people tend to use bigotry as a divining rod when it comes to finding targets for their anger over economic hardships, but just calling them racists isn't going to get them to see your side of things. When people are unreasonable, you must be even more reasonable. Understand their hatred is a knee-jerk reaction to fear & anxiety over the future.

Remember, it's not their fault they're in such dire straits, but they get told it is all the time. Heaping more blame on them isn't the way to win them over.

I don't know why there is always so much bo hate. I check out the site from time to time, they usually have some interesting articles posted.

In the Brexit case the context and rhetoric are more important than the actual legal consequence of the vote.

If the general story was "we're leaving the EU because we're willing to be the first first-world nation to reject global neoliberalism as a project" then I would be 97% in support.

Unfortunately the general story is "get these dirty immigrants out of our country" because the movement got appropriated by a xenophobic fascist party. Thus I see the outcome as a failure.

Yeah the leaving the EU part might still work out fine as an anti-globalization thing, but in the meantime there are a lot of racist Brits who now feel entitled to harass, insult, and injure anyone they see as being from a different race. It also gives points to the previously mentioned fascist party which, helping them get elected.

Don't forget about the anti-EU-tax sentiment fueled by blatant lies.
