I for one signed the petition "just to see what happens". If open carry is the New Jerusalem, we should get a taste of that sweet sweet freedom today. Why not here, why not now?

Tough American Bouncer - 2016-03-29

Well, if politicians support the open carry rights, they should allow it for their events. Also make sure there is enough whiskey and beer stands for the armed plebs.

Gmork - 2016-03-29

Let them. Maybe it'll lessen their numbers. This is why you don't vote for your politician on singular nonessential issues - Bernie and me don't see eye-to-eye on gun control (it would be risky for him to be otherwise given the general ignorant knee-jerk reaction from my own party on the subject) but only a moron would use THAT issue as the singular defining reason to vote for or against a presidential candidate.

Death to possibly hostile strangers.

chumbucket - 2016-03-29

Haha, internet petitions.

I don't give a shit about guns, I'd rather they were banned completely. Yet, I wouldn't want to impose my preference on millions of responsible people who enjoy them.

How is this possible?

Void 71 - 2016-03-29

It's possible to hold an opinion without wanting to force everyone else to submit to your will. It's called being normal.

Gmork - 2016-03-29

Exactly.

SolRo - 2016-03-29

Sometimes laws have to be imposed to protect the millions more from a couple million people doing/possessing dangerous things.

Ammonium nitrate has many more practical uses than guns do, and in many way is safer than guns, but it has still become much more strictly regulated than high powered automatic weapons are.

SolRo - 2016-03-29

even the favorite red herring of gun nut, the automobile, is more strictly regulated than gun ownership.

I have to register my car every year, and have to have a clearly displayed identification number and registration sticker showing at all times for a law enforcement officer to see. I also have to report the sale or theft of my car and the buyer also has to register it as theirs.

To use my car in public, by law, I must have insurance to pay for damages I may cause with my car intentionally or accidentally.

Auto repair shops have to keep thorough records that include the owner information of cars they worked on and report that data to publically accessible databases.

I'm completely with you and I've used that same analogy myself. The gun show loop hole is also insane. There's middle ground.

Monkey Napoleon - 2016-03-30

Don't bother explaining middle ground to SolRo. He's the guy who says "high powered automatic weapons" instead of "guns" for the emotional response it evokes rather than any sort of real descriptive power.

SolRo - 2016-03-30

I'm sorry if a single shot .22 isn't quite the same thing as a barret .50 with a clip nor is it similar to an ar15 with an oversized clip.

SolRo - 2016-03-30

Gun nuts like you are apparently the guys that only see gray...a civic is no different than an mrap.

Monkey Napoleon - 2016-03-30

Case in point: someone who disagrees with him is a gun nut, despite having never owned any guns at any point.

Your emotional appeal rhetoric does you no favors, especially when it becomes obvious that you don't have the slightest clue what you're talking about. If it helps you sleep better at night, go ahead and pretend I've ever said that anybody should be able to own whatever they want.

kamlem - 2016-03-30

"Ammonium nitrate has many more practical uses than guns do, and in many way is safer than guns, but it has still become much more strictly regulated than high powered automatic weapons are."

In Solro's defence, he was pointing out that even ludicrously overpowered and excessively dangerous weapons with no practical use in sports or farming have little regulation in the US.

memedumpster - 2016-03-29

I don't think it's right, or legal under the PATRIOT Act, to call for the mass shooting of political opponents.

crasspm - 2016-03-30

lol america, your country is a fucking global circus show.
