The way this guy talks makes me feel like I've been slapped with a big foam finger soaked in vinegar and sugar.

"When they first saw these insects, they of course wanted to start a breeding program."
Yes, that's where my thoughts usually go when I see insects as well. Nothing gets me going like hot beetle-on-grasshopper action. Or, if you're really into the kink, a threeway between 2 soldier ants and an arachnid. Oooh yeah. Rub that pedipalp, baby.

What, you prefer rats to tree dwelling miniature lobsters?

A few of years ago, POETV suffered an outage that appeared to be fatal. After a few days and the seriousness of the situation dawned on us there were, of course, versions of doomsday scenarios played out by posters. Panic, dark confessions, undying love revealed, and a lot of poop ascii characters. In the midst of it all I recall someone comparing POETV and its denizens to the giant stick insects on Ball's Pyramid. For some reason I found that description to be extremely touching and it has stuck with me. When things settled down and it turned out to be a server rebuild I finally got my account set up after lurking since POE-RED.
Minus one star because of the voice, described perfectly by Binro.

I've always wondered about this sort of thing. How does a terrestrial creature get from one island to another?
Does this suggest there was a land bridge at one point?
|
SolRo - 2016-02-17 you could try using your imagination...
how could a relatively small insect go from one tropical island to another without swimming?

Binro the Heretic - 2016-02-17 Storms can sweep living animals and debris into the water. The animals sometimes manage to climb on clusters of floating debris that eventually fetches up on another shore.
This is a proven bit of science that's been lately coopted by creationists to explain how animals repopulated the whole of earth after the great flood.
