Yeah, the "beatings will continue until morale improves" thing just doesn't work. I know that this is for misbehaving prisoners, and generally prison food is more like public school hot lunch, but if I had to eat this I'd just become more violent than I was before!

On the other hand, I don't think that prisons should be treated like a 5 star restaurant either; you did something to be in there, but there's a happy medium. What I don't understand is why they don't just serve misbehaving inmates something like half a loaf of Dave's Killer Bread instead?

whoops forgot that Dave's is probably not nationwide, but it's good bread and you could live on it and nothing else your whole life and be fine, you'd just get sick of it after a while. But it covers all the nutritional bases. Tastes like bread tastes, but Nutriloaf seems like it's intentionally made to taste like shit as a punishment. I love that related video at the end where Joe Arpaio nearly pukes after taking a much smaller bite than these guys do.
