I like how they're always complaining about how they're too broke to pay the rent but Bob buys like 5 turkeys in this episode.

Potter - 2015-12-31

Oh i do hope they get to make out!

Caminante Nocturno - 2015-12-31

Sometimes people panic and they send mixed messages, and that's okay.

Xenocide - 2015-12-31

The last line is just golden. Almost any other sitcom would have used this setup to have the dad spend the whole episode trying to get out of dating the guy, and everyone learns a lesson about homophobia at the end. But Bob's Burgers is better than almost any other sitcom.

Also this bit kicked off a long tradition of the show hinting that Bob is some degree of bisexual.

infinite zest - 2015-12-31

Are you sure you're not thinking of Archer? I've only seen as much of BB and Archer as either show allows, which means I'm a couple seasons behind, but this was the only time I remember Bob being bi-curious unless you count the MLP episode.

Bort - 2015-12-31

Archer's not bi-curious, though. Not even with Lucas Troy, believe it or not.

infinite zest - 2015-12-31

Weird! There's actually no Troy/Archer DA/Rule 34 stuff I can find either, and it's like so fucking obvious that they love each other!!!

Bort - 2016-01-01

Well, it's a singular same-sex attraction from Luke to Archer, but it's not reciprocated. A lot like Archer's relationship with Ramone, come to think of it. I wish we'd see more of Ramone, and for once without those dicks Charles and Rudy.

gravelstudios - 2016-01-01

it's one of the last frontiers of humor in America. Even though I think most men have at least THOUGHT about it, we have such a binary view of sexuality that most men don't want to admit that. Joking openly and honestly about sexuality being something fluid and dynamic is good for America.

Bort - 2016-01-01

Guys being able to recognize that other guys are handsome is certainly a good first step. Beyond that you may or may not feel any sexual attraction, but being comfortable saying "_______ is a good-looking man" is better than saying "What? Who? I have no idea what you're talking about. Does he even have a face? I didn't even notice ... look I'm not gay, okay?"

Cena_mark - 2016-01-01

I thought I read somewhere that Bob being bi is canon. Cartoons are really leading things with social progress.

infinite zest - 2016-01-01

I've never heard that but it would be awesome. The way he talks to his vegetables implies that he's into veggie tooo! Lord knows I am! Fuck sex toys, cucumbers are .59 cents at the safeway!

EvilHomer - 2016-01-01

Sorry, but until we've got cartoon characters casually admitting that Fluttershy is hot, we've still got a ways to go.

Cena_mark - 2016-01-01

MLP had their chance to do something cool and progressive, but they chumped out. "Best friends".

EvilHomer - 2016-01-01

I hope you're talking about Rainbow and Fluttershy (who kissed!).

EvilHomer - 2016-01-01

Or possibly Dimebag and Silver Spoon.

Cena_mark - 2016-01-01

You know what I'm talking about. Bon Bon and Lyra. The MLP crew could have been brave and made them lovers, but they instead settled for them being best friends. Granted they're constantly under Hasbro's thumb, and may not be allowed that freedom. Also Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash never kissed.

Meerkat - 2016-01-01

What the fuck you guys

EvilHomer - 2016-01-01

Ooooh. See, I thought you were trying to pull your whole Flutterhugger troll thing again, but yes, you are right. Lyra and BonBon are indeed a legitimate example of lesbianism in MLP, just like Flutterdash and the SugarRumps. As far as Hasbro obscuring their special-somepony-status behind euphemisms like "best friend" and "roommate", I refer you to this:

https://youtu.be/Td6BzOAn7do

(0:38 - 1:00 for Ms Clover's thesis statement: "I would like to submit that My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic deals with the issue of romantic love perfectly, because it pretty much sidelines it. One of the reasons I love MLP so much is because it rarely deals with the issue of romantic love, and that is brilliant, because romantic love is greatly over-represented in modern media")

"Best friends" = more socially progressive. Stop objectifying women, Cena, they are more than just sex objects.

EvilHomer - 2016-01-02

Also, don't forget that MLP goes much further than merely pandering to the LGBT community alone. Over the course of the last few seasons, MLP has bravely acknowledged a wide variety of alternative sexualities, including inflation, vore, macro/micro, hypnosis, age-regression, femdom, polyamory, guro, zoophilia, MGTOW, and even the incest community. None of these things are embraced by the mainstream, and most of them are liable to get you in serious trouble, even when dealing with people who like to consider themselves "ahead of the curve" in regards to matters of sexual liberation and LGBT rights.

Let's be real here, Cena: Bob's Burgers plays it safe. These days, LGBT causes are openly (even dogmatically!) accepted by the majority of TV-watching Americans; there is little or no risk in supporting them. In truth, Bob's Burgers is not "progressive", it is "status quo" - which we say not to diminish Bob's Burgers, of course (it is a very funny show and one of the best on TV at the moment), but merely to acknowledge facts.

tesla_weapon - 2016-01-02

Was going to say something interesting about bisexuals, but now it will just be lost in a sea of MLP posts...

Cena_mark - 2016-01-02

They've supported no such things. Homer is just taking a few gags too seriously.

Sorry Tesla, please go ahead.

EvilHomer - 2016-01-02

Yes they have. Don't listen to Cena, he's just mad because he's a conservative and can't stand the fact Applejack has an inflation fetish.

EvilHomer - 2016-01-02

But yes, go ahead.

American Standard - 2016-01-01

"Sloppy bears."

joelkazoo - 2016-01-03

I love Bob's Burgers. That is all.
