Ladies and Gentlemen, a Free and Open Press.

perhaps we can defeat evil with... more evil?

Nikon - 2015-12-05

One upshot is that more people are talking and thinking about ethics in journalism.

Old_Zircon - 2015-12-05

Gaming journalism doesn't count, Nikon.

Nikon - 2015-12-05

I wasn't talking about games just now.

RedRust - 2015-12-05

Evil stars for the all-in-one printer

SolRo - 2015-12-04

From what I've heard, the FBI gave the home owner permission to go back in and do as he wished with his property (legalities over ownership of previous tenants items aside).

This is more like idiots gawking at a carnival gimp show

Cena_mark - 2015-12-05

Empty bag of nuts, a calander, family photos!

No, not MLP!

Cena_mark - 2015-12-05

I'm really hoping they get sued over showing the children's photos. That's a big no no. This whole specatacle should be a big no no.

infinite zest - 2015-12-05

Not to mention the mom's drivers license and social security card..

kingarthur - 2015-12-05

Holy Nightcrawler, Batman! See the soulless husk devour all laid before it.

Binro the Heretic - 2015-12-05

Vultures.

Of course, it's hard to blame them entirely when so many people are eager to swallow what they regurgitate.

Cena_mark - 2015-12-05

Vultures indeed. They're all scrounging around hoping to find clues the FBI may have left behind. Hey dipshit, if the guy wrote "commit mass murder" on his calendar, the FBI would have already taken it.

infinite zest - 2015-12-05

OMG an LG Monitor! There's one of those in my house too! Don't dox me bro!

15th - 2015-12-05

I wonder how much the landlord and advertisers made off these murders.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2015-12-05

Jesus Christ, why does it have to be LIVE? Do we really have such a compelling need to know what brand of refrigerator the terrorists were using that we can't wait to edit?

It occurs to me that the horrible answer may be that if they had recorded the footage, that would have given the authorities a chance to stop them from broadcasting the footage, even if they had a legitimate reason. And we don't want the investigation of a mass murder to impede whatever the fuck they think they may be accomplishing here, right?

TeenerTot - 2015-12-05

I think they *knew* that if they waited to edit, there wouldn't be anything worth keeping. Going live means they get to spill the sewage with the excuse that they couldn't edit.

Hooker - 2015-12-05

Or the most important commodity in news is speed and if another outlet is going live, you have to as well. I mean, this is news 101.

infinite zest - 2015-12-05

I'm just surprised MSNBC's a thing, since I haven't thought about or used MSN-anything since the early '00s

infinite zest - 2015-12-05

Oh that reminds me I should check my hotmail account. I signed up to win a free Playstation 2.

RedRust - 2015-12-05

I live in San Bernardino. It was already poopy to begin with with the bankruptcy and crime and all. Now this terrorism business is hitting close to home. Not going to let it interfere with daily life however. We'll watch Kraumpus tonight, despite a stupid chain text message we received stating to look out for more attacks on Theaters, malls, etc.

Cena_mark - 2015-12-05

Selling lamps and chairs to San Berdino squares.

infinite zest - 2015-12-05

Yeah the best thing to do is go out without fear. I work for an organization that serves folks with developmental disabilities and since I do field work and rarely visit the office I went to work, but the office closed on thursday for the rest of the week before a motive was established, for fear that, like the Planned Parenthood attacks, gun fanatics might be targeting the developmentally disabled, or facilities that assist them, since mental illness or disabilities such as autism have been connected to many of the shooters.

And hell, I thought that too. I hate to say it, but terrorist attacks like 9/11 up to Paris usually make some sense: attack the symbol of what you hate, be it a decadent cafe and nightlife or a symbol of capitalism. To shoot up a place like the office in San Bernadino in the name of IS makes no sense. Maybe a little if it was tight security and you had a keycard or something, but Farook didn't work there! He was just there for a company event.

SolRo - 2015-12-05

Ok, IZ, I think we all know you work with disabled people already, you can stop telling us now.

Cena_mark - 2015-12-05

I'm in the Coast Guard.

infinite zest - 2015-12-06

It seemed relevant as a reply. But if I bring up working with disabled people when discussing cat or anime videos, then I've got a narcissism issue.

Lurchi - 2015-12-05

Slate thinks this is great. Slate is dumb.

sasazuka - 2015-12-14

What gets me is that the FBI left the shredded documents in the bin.

If BATMAN RETURNS taught me one thing, it's that "A lot of tape and a little patience make all the difference."
