Man, I wish I had this marathon back when I was in college, especially my Freshman year when I knew nobody except for the weird "orientation" people I'd never want to be friends with IRL. 4 days really isn't enough time to travel halfway across the country, so most people went home leaving me with a ghosttown and a half bottle of tequilla and a thing of gatorade, which I tried mixing. Bad idea.

This year I was fortunate to spend it with my family and actually brought a girl over, much to my parents' surprise, and we watched the Packers lose, and I ate dairy and didn't die, but I'm guessing at least my dad and I would've wanted to watch this instead.

Well, it looks like the kickstarter should hit at least the 3.3M mark, giving us 6 new episodes. I really don't think I like the new cast, but go figure, I didn't like Mike when he started hosting, or bill when he took over crow, and I've grown to love both of them. It'll be harder to take though, since they only ever changed one person on the cast at a time, having everyone be new will make it hard to tell people apart in theater.

I'm excited it's coming back, but does it really need THAT much money for 12 episodes? It was on here a while ago but that fanmade episode of MST3K looked exactly like the show and if I had to guess it was probably made for a couple hundred dollars at the most.

The money does seem excessive but I'm glad it's going to these guys in the end.

Hey Waugh!

Yeah they deserve it for sure; I'm interested to see how the new episodes hold up given that half of internet videos are inspired by their kind of humor, be it a movie review or a Lets Play, something they never got any real credit for. I hope I like it more than I liked W Bob and David, which in the end just felt like fan service with no heart, and just when the show was getting back to the old school oh wait it's over. Fuck. Anyway this is the kind of thing where I've wondered what I'd do with a bank account larger than 4 digits, I'd just donate 10K to things like this like it was no biggie. Instead I hope they're happy with my 10 :)

Looking it up I'm surprised the movie made only about 1,000,000. I saw it a week after it came out and it was still pretty much sold out, and it wasn't like an exclusive release or anything either. I can't seem find a number for the budget, but after marketing and licensing and everything else you have to do for a theatrical release, I could see that number easily being in the red.

Yay for Turkey Day!!

Boo for Joel making the host segments into just fucking commercials for the kickstarter. Last year he got Frank and Trace to play the robots in skits....they couldn't have done more with this concept? Yeah I get it, we need to push the kickstarter, but apart from the woman singing the new version of the theme song, there was nothing unique or special about this year and it's totally dated now because no one is going to look back fondly and be like "Hey, let's watch turkey way with these lame commercial bumpers!" like they do with the classic ones from the Comedy Central era.

i turned it off about 15 minutes in. one star.
