Under the same logic, if a mother has a miscarriage or stillborn and decides that's her last pregnancy, it still could have been them. Or if a baby is born a vegetable without any brain, and the child lives, and the mother decides that's her last baby, then "that could have been them" too.

It's just a stupidly egotistical approach to life.

I think many of the high-end demagogues couldn't give less of a shit about abortion happening or not. It's just an excuse to get money out of religious rubes the same way televangelists do.

If they really, desperately, wanted women to carry their unwanted pregnancies to term and raise the child, they'd be out there picketing state offices and crying about how there needs to be massive increases and new programs to give women government funding to raise a child. Gigantic new childcare programs at every college and highschool, childcare grants for working mothers, etc, etc, etc.

My parents decided to have sex that one time; this resulted in me being born. If my parents hadn't had sex, I would never have been born. BUT so many people make the murderous decision not to have sex as often as possible. You could fill the entire atmosphere of Venus with all the murdered potential children that never had the chance to even be conceived.
