Remember when the PS1 could handle these games just fine? At what point during the last 25 iterations of this series did they just *forget* how to make them functional?

Hooker - 2015-09-29

This is baffling to me as well. Even the graphics seem to have stepped backwards.

SolRo - 2015-09-29

I think many games have had a hard time transitioning from faking physics to using a physics engine to replicate what the fake physics could do.

CIWB - 2015-09-30

Tony Hawk's contract with Activision ends this year. This is just a cash grab release before they lose the rights.

And the original developer of the games had nothing to do with this one. I don't think they even exist anymore.

Hooker - 2015-09-30

They were executed?

infinite zest - 2015-09-30

I dunno, I was at the bi mart yesterday and almost bought Skate 3, since it was 4.99, because of all the fun glitches I've seen on Let's Plays. Then again, that's probably 55 dollars less than this. Also I'll always remember Tony Hawk 1 because it was the first time I got a quote of mine on the back of a box from a review I wrote, and I still think it's the best sports game ever, but I stopped paying attention somewhere around 2.

Old_Zircon - 2015-09-30

I think most games don't need an actual physics engine but a combination of marketing hype from game studios themselves and no doubt marketing hype from the companies that license out the physics engines have convinced people that they're mandatory.

CIWB - 2015-09-30

Infinite Zest wrote for Gamefan?

infinite zest - 2015-09-30

Haha nope but a few of the other writers did.

Meerkat - 2015-09-29

Goat Simulator with a skateboard.

Scrimmjob - 2015-09-29

yes, a sixty dollar goat simulator expansion.

MacGyver Style Bomb - 2015-09-29

Rated M for sequences of intense slodging.

Raggamuffin - 2015-09-30

Hot

TheOtherCapnS - 2015-09-29

Is it, though? I mean it looks like 90% of these are the guy hitting walls and missing landings intentionally, then the game going all foaming-at-the-mouth ragdoll crazy; if you're any good at the game at all and play it right, I doubt you'd even see half this shit. Glitchy ragdoll bailing sounds like a feature to me.

Patches aren't even guaranteed:

infinite zest - 2015-09-30

As for the description, I don't find it surprising. I grew up mostly on PC games, which were full of bugs and glitches, and at the time very hard to patch. I could be off, but I'd say it's only been the last decade or so where console games have really reached the same level of content as a PC game, so I guess this is to be expected?

Then again, a lot of my bugs weren't necessarily even the game itself, but a bug that happened because of my graphics or soundcard, etc. With XBone and PS4, you're always working with the same hardware, right? I'd expect the occasional fall through the wall in a very specific location without proper clipping, which is like finding a needle in a haystack, but surely someone who was testing out the game had to notice this.

I guess the original game is something like 5 GB and the patch you have to download to fix this is something like 8? That's like twice the size of Metal Gear Solid 5!

Conan seems to be having fun with it.

"Tony Hawk Underground" was by far the biggest gap between how good I was at a game and how good everyone online was. Meaning that I was positively decimating everyone every time, and I got to be the obnoxious guy talking shit to all the n00bz. It's a powerful feeling (when you aren't good at sports). It is my Al Bundy "four touchdowns in a single game" period of my video gaming life.

Gmork - 2015-09-30

Yeah, on the moscow level of tony hawk underground 2 there's an "infinite combo" line (well, depending how good you are) and I was able to rack up about 10 million+ combos on it.

kingarthur - 2015-09-30

I was expecting Divine on a skateboard and this is what I got.

fluffy - 2015-09-30

Uh, what's with the "tranny" thing? Could we please not do that?

EvilHomer - 2015-09-30

Yes, fluffy is right. If you are a boy, wear boy clothes, please.

Nominal - 2015-09-30

It's just a skate move! Named after a skater's favorite sunday dessert.

Or are you against saying trannies can be hot? Keep it to yourself, transphobe.

Albuquerque Halsey - 2015-09-30

It's from Achewood, stop being a whiny cuntboy.

Ugh - 2015-09-30

oh yeah

she's just standing there like a hot trans mess

what a dumb bitch

Anaxagoras - 2015-10-01

And there's nothing wrong with nigger. It's just a word that's part of our heritage.

Stop being so sensitive!

Spaceman Africa - 2015-10-01

JOKES

StanleyPain - 2015-09-30

The reviews are saying this game is terrible, but to be fair, it looks like this footage here was mostly taken from gameplay in user-made courses, most of which are going out of their way to glitch the game and break things.
