Yay, i loved Spuds when i was 8 years old.

blue vein steel - 2015-09-26

also, animal interviews are the height of indignity for talk show hosts

infinite zest - 2015-09-26

Ah, to be a kid in the early 90s, when all we had to fear was Spuds and Mortal Kombat..

Seriously though how come Spuds got so much heat for his (actually her) childrens' appeal when the Hamms cartoon bear got a free pass?

infinite zest - 2015-09-26

Oh, actually according to Wikipedia once Miller bought Hamms in the mid 00s they pretty much got rid of the bear for the same reason.

Let's just ban all of everything from advertising, because some child might think the Car Insurance Fox Muppet is neat and decide to get behind the wheel when dad's not looking, or drink a bottle of Mr. Clean so they can look just like him when they grow up..

Old_Zircon - 2015-09-26

Because nobody drinks Hamm's.

Old_Zircon - 2015-09-26

Shit that was supposed to be 5 stars, SPUDS CAN YOU FORGIVE ME?

infinite zest - 2015-09-26

I like HAmms. Just add a little grapefruit juice in a separate cup mix and consume. Or buy a can of "raddler" for triple the price! Pepsichallenge that shit dawg!

EvilHomer - 2015-09-26

Talk show interviews are the height of indignity for celebrity spokes-animals.

Old_Zircon - 2015-09-26

I used to know a couple guys who had a band called Hamm's, I think I still have one of their shirts.

It was some really shitty bro shirt with a devil smiley face or something on it from the Good Will with the Hamm's logo badly drawn in sharpie.

Good lookin' Spuds, I liked your commercials too, I'll have to save that one. Did you know that John E. Carson interviewed Here's Boomer, so I wonder if he had Spuds too?

I have Spuds' original Party Animal tee shirt with the pooch on front.

Hey Boomer, did you see that other video with the dog, the one that got posted a few days ago? The one with the sleepy bully-breed? I forget which one it was now, but I thought you might enjoy it.

EvilHomer - 2015-09-27

It was one of the Davis Aurini videos; some joker edited it together with clips of a tired dog. The original dog video was this one:

https://youtu.be/ru21ai9GkrI

It's extra cool, for me at least, because the dog in the video looks very much like the first dog I ever had, my pitbull "brother" Hampton - the one whom I used to talk to in Dog language. Hampie had a slightly less jowly face and less brown around the eyes, but otherwise, very similar!

That's like me at the computer sometimes, maybe listening to to tune. My Spitz Dog Yoder used to do that when he'd sit in a chair next to me, while I was writing or drawing, he'd have his head on the back rest, or just be sitting there and slowly start to nod and catch himself repeatedly, like the Dog in the video you posted. Yoder did that a lot, usually with his head on the arm rest, sleeping.

I like the shirt on the Bulldog too, shirts on Dogs seem cool, I used to put them on my pooches too, like my old shirts that were too small.

I didn't have any Dogs until I was 10 and got Butch, the Beagle, but I was always gaga over other people's Dogs before then. I had that closeness, not to having a puppy brother, but I wouldn't run over to adults or kids that way, Dogs were super cool!

I'd have to wonder how it might have been to have a Dog really early. We had a kitty though.

If I was Tom here, Dogs would be my special guests, and I'd think up a whole bunch of stuff to do, not try to hustle Spuds off stage.

That's not a bad idea, actually! Have you ever considered doing a talk show where your guests are dogs and dog-related people; celebrities like Air Bud and his trainer, or even regular dogs, like a local therapeutic servicedog and his therapist/owner? You could film it like a traditional talk show and release it on the internet, or maybe just make a podcast (dogcast?) and/or have a Dog interview segment on one of your radio programs?

Have dogs on, bark with them a bit, profile their work for your listeners, and then maybe let them do fun stuff, like play tug o' war or rip up origami cats made of tissue paper?

Boomer The Dog - 2015-09-29

Hi Homer, it seems like it would be a good time for a Dog talk show, Dogs are such popular pets and people are concerned with them more and more. There are so many opportunities, but most hosts are used to doing segments with Human guests, maintaining their poise, and not thinking about different ways to interact with animals who come on.

Origami cats, I like that you can see what could be done. I've recorded Dog barks to use on the radio before, taking out my cassette recorder to tape them. Once there were two Dogs in my back yard, one was laying down and the other was barking over him, and I got a whole 30 minute cassette side of barks from that.

I thought the laying down Dog might be hurt, but he just got right up and left, I guess he had a watchdog or something.
