I've asked various Indian imigrants over the years about how prevalent it still is, but now I kind of realize that's like asking a white southerner if racism still exists.

A couple years ago, I had a white Southerner assure me that despite their ugly history, the South may actually be the most racially progressive section of the country. "It's counter-intuitive, but true!" This was a guy who I had known for a while and who was otherwise a pretty stand-up dude.

It never ceases to amaze me how white Southerners are unable to see their racism.
