I wouldn't say I'm interested in playing this, I'm terrible at FPS's and I'm generally not too found of games with a brown and yellow palette, but I am impressed by how "solid" the terrain looks. It sort of reminds me of a stop-motion animation set... I don't know if they laser-scanned an actual miniature model terrain or not but it certainly gives me that kind of impression.

Of course, any game promo that makes Anita Sarkeesian go "full Jack Thompson" can't be all wrong.

Pillager - 2015-06-15

Andy Kaufman had nothing on her as performance art goes.

spikestoyiu - 2015-06-15

Will pre-order to spite her.

infinite zest - 2015-06-15

It looks good but Doom's one of the few games that's just stuck in fps history for me: no jumping, no looking around, etc. It was kind of like the original resident evil in terms of the evolution of the genre. This looks like it plays like every other fps.

Caminante Nocturno - 2015-06-15

Looks like E3 didn't set up any safe spaces.

Old_Zircon - 2015-06-15

I've got no interest in playing this but the rock formations are very well sculpted and it's nice to see a next gen FPS that doesn't use every shader it can and end up looking like the entire game is coated with vaseline.

The last FPS that I got really excited about was Quake I though, unless you count the first Portal even though it's hardly an FPS.

Shoebox Joe - 2015-06-15

Jesus Christ, you people. If you can't even drag yourselves through the pretension in those twitter comments and responses then you don't even deserve your right to freedom of speech.

You deserve as much ridicule and scoffing as Anita with this shit you crusty bed-wetting turds.

Old_Zircon - 2015-06-15

I wonder if Anita has even heard of Violence and the Sacred.

Caminante Nocturno - 2015-06-15

I wonder how much money Shoebox Joe gave Anita.

Shoebox Joe - 2015-06-15

None. I have not donated a single penny to Anita.

spikestoyiu - 2015-06-15

Pre-ordering two now. Don't necessarily even want to play it.

Shoebox Joe - 2015-06-15

Good for you, spike, good for you.

infinite zest - 2015-06-15

I mean, maybe they'll release a shareware with the best part of the game in it.. I might play it then.

StanleyPain - 2015-06-15

Spending your money on something because a woman has an opinion on it.

You sure showed her.

infinite zest - 2015-06-16

waitwaitwait.. didn't Anita say that she had no problem with games being violent, including GTA, Mass Effect, etc.. just the misrepresentation of women in them as NPCs and such? I don't know about you but I didn't see any men or women in this video.

spikestoyiu - 2015-06-16

It's what I base most of my purchases on. It's why I own so many purple flannels.

spikestoyiu - 2015-06-16

Wait, are you guys not going to buy it either? This could get expensive.

Potrod - 2015-06-16

Spite donations were her kickstarter's bread and butter, and now Doom's getting spite purchases. How can I get in on this monetization of spite?

Those tweets are pretty funny, though, like it's 1992 all over again. Won't someone PLEASE think of the children?!

MacGyver Style Bomb - 2015-06-16

Jesus Christ... let it rest.

Caminante Nocturno - 2015-06-16

Don't you mean... LET IT GO!

yogarfield - 2015-06-16

So who is this Anita chick? Is she DFW/DTF/ANL?

spikestoyiu - 2015-06-16

Some of those demons are women. They just don't conform to your beauty standards and that's okay.

garcet71283 - 2015-06-15

Looks really brown.

Caminante Nocturno - 2015-06-15

Racism.

15th - 2015-06-15

Looks really stressful!

SolRo - 2015-06-15

Gaming companies are finally catching on to how their target market is college kids who are mostly hopped up on Adderall, and for them, this is a little on the slow side.

SolRo - 2015-06-15

Gibs for the Gib God.

The Mothership - 2015-06-15

Needs more chaingun.

Void 71 - 2015-06-15

Bethesda is undoubtedly going to use this game as a vehicle for paid mods.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2015-06-15

Looks triggering and problematic.

Merzbau - 2015-06-15

Brown, canned melee finishers, the Hell level in another video just looks like a barren rocky valley, and I give no shits about any of these because the short "teaser" trailer is scored to a new version of E1M1. Fuck yes.

Void 71 - 2015-06-15

My son really liked this trailer even though he's becoming a bit of a video game snob. He's dubious about the level design ('Looks like it's gonna be a monster arena.'), but he thinks the combat will be awesome. I just installed Serious Sam on his machine since this game looks like it's going to be Serious Sam with Doom 3-style graphics.

Chocolate Jesus - 2015-06-15

*yawn*

Pillager - 2015-06-15

Haters gonna hate. Playas gonna play.

urbanelf - 2015-06-15

16% prettier!

infinite zest - 2015-06-16

Call of Doomty lulz

MurgatroidMendelbaum - 2015-06-15

Five stars because you suckers will continue falling for this bullshit until the day you die.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3z2qVebxlUo

Gmork - 2015-06-15

Your argument is linking Colonial Marines? Really?

Five stars for your stupidity.

Shoebox Joe - 2015-06-15

What's stupid about his point? The animation and game play in the video does feel like a developer demonstration rather than actual game play.

The only five for evil I'm giving this is the fact that this feels like Brutal DOOM crowd sourced into a high production value project.

theSnake - 2015-06-15

Dont try to argue with him Murgatroid, they think every trailer is in game footage and wont stop beleivin

Gmork - 2015-06-16

Actually, theSnake, your stupidity is shining through today as well.

Swing and a miss. I'm not a huge fallout fan, won't be fanboying or defending anything. Maybe if the engine they were using wasn't the antique piece of garbage that we all know it is, you might see me fanboying.

I'm not here to fanboy over fallout - I'm here calling people stupid who deserve it. Like you.

You reek of the desperation to troll. Not to mention - you always manage to make some hugely ignorant assumption about me that invariably turns out to be wrong.

And you never own up or acknowledge it. And I have to point it out again in another post.

Wake me up when you guys learn to be decent human beings instead of the kind of knee-jerk reactionaries you attempt to lampoon so often on this site, but end up being a hypocritical mirror image of.

NewHeavenSockman - 2015-06-16

this probably one of the fattest things i have ever read on this site

all this needs is a *cockslap* and you'd be a dead ringer for onideus mad hatter

MurgatroidMendelbaum - 2015-06-16

E3 is famous for showing CGI cartoons in place of actual gameplay.
I'm not saying I don't hope the game turns out to be this fluid; I'd be thrilled.
Just allow yourself a little historical perspective here.

fluffy - 2015-06-15

New coat of paint on the same old boring game.

But that sure is a nice paint job.

Ugh - 2015-06-16

i mean it could be cool but let's be honest, it's no goldeneye 007 on the nintendo 64

NewHeavenSockman - 2015-06-16

the map-making features looks neat (though completely inferior to what can be produced in .wads), but holy shit the "stun then melee execute to get health/ammo drops" mechanic blanches my butthole

at least id is actually allowing more than two enemies on screen at a time, though?

Gmork - 2015-06-16

.wads are doom files. If you think doom had great mods or a good mapmaking community, you are a sad individual.

Doom was a shit engine, even in 92 the marathon engine was infinitely superior for modders. And the track record for modding shows it.

NewHeavenSockman - 2015-06-16

what track record? doomworld is still able to have a top ten list for map packs every year, while trying to find marathon scenarios leads to a variety of fascinating ghost towns showcasing about -two dozen- mods total.

you're certainly free to argue that marathon is superior to doom, or even that doom's popularity can only be attributed to source ports that allowed more freedom to create, but claiming that there's been more done on marathon's engine than doom's is just a weird thing to say.
