Yeah I agree. All of the creased comics humor is gone, replaced with relatively dumb sitcom shit. This might've made me laugh when I was in college 15 years ago (?) because I knew professors like this, but Neely's so much better than that.

I wonder if Neely's humor just doesn't translate into longer things. Imagine a Perry Bible Fellowship cartoon, and not just animated one-offs because, well, Robot Chicken does that, but a full show about Colonel Sweeto. Tony Millionaire's another one of my favorites, and that's basically what they did with Drinky Crow Show.

But I've been saying it for a while- almost everything on Adult Swim has sucked recently except for King Star King and of course Rick and Morty. I actually tune in to watch the Family Guy/Robot Chicken block and that's just to go to sleep to something stupid and mildly funny, and don't care about anything else. Pretty sad.

Oh yeah, Newsreaders too. I almost forget those shows are on AS because they're not animated, and get horrible time slots. Seriously, if your target demographic are college students up to 35ish, midnight on a Friday night means you're probably at a bar or party, or wishing you were invited to one.

But the laugh track thing.. well read my other post. It did work for Jack and Triumph, all two jokes..

You guys are a prime example of the problem with geek culture and the confounded rage that bubbles up out of every fissure in our crumbling culture when you cannot instantly have something pegged from jump street. This show is just as good of an example of great, well developed characters, world building and elaborate continuity Easter eggs as Venture Bros or Adventure Time. But if you nervous dithering middle age fucks are challenged in the least bit or put on iota out of your comfort zone you start in with some smug superiority bullshit about how Neely has lost his edge. What a croc of shit, the show is genius and immensely rewarding if you are willing to commit and, you know, willingly suspend disbelief, but apparently all that mental space has been reserved for Jake and Finn and the entire My Little Pony extended universe.
