I loved how we were supposed to feel sympathy for white executives hooked on blow yet hate impoverished black people who smoked crack. In fact, nobody gave a shit about the crack epidemic until white teens from the suburbs started using it.

The 1980s were just fucking awful. Our music mostly sucked. Our fashions mostly sucked. The Reaganites wanted to drag us back to an idealized 1950s DonnaReediverse. Jobs were being shipped en masse out of the country. Wall Street was sucking the life blood out of the country. HIV/AIDS was running rampant and people were actively fighting research into treatment because they felt victims "deserved" to have it.

It was a shitty time to be a teen.

that kind of sounds like the present..

Our music mostly sucks - Checked!
Our fashions mostly sucks - Checked!

Reaganites/idealized 1950s DonnaReediverse . not applicable, but we are living in a more obvious plutocracy

Jobs have been shipped en masse out of the country - Nothing changed!

Wall Street continues to suck the life blood out of the country with ponzi schemes and govt bailouts - Checked!

. HIV/AIDS - hmm better treatment, but i would counter there's huge big steps backwards for sex ed and and abortion rights.

- You can add environmental disasters to our decade, climate change and new stresses.

Add that skyrocketing education costs, youth unemployment, loss of earning and we're doing worst than the 80's.

the answer is clearly more coke in society.

Cena_mark - 2015-04-08

It is applicable. There are still Reaganites and they do idealize the 1950s or some other "Good Ol' Day."

Reaganomics laid bare.

Coke users are far superior to pot smoking slackers. Coke users get shit done. Ric Flair would wrestle a match, fly to vegas, fly to his next match, and repeat it. He could't have done that with pot. Cocaine made it possible to tour and party for thousands of pro-wrestlers and rock stars. It made the Ultimate Maniacs into ultimate maniacs. Need I say more? Legalize it!

oddeye - 2015-04-07

It is legal

Every cokehead I've ever met was a smug snobby prick who looked down on everyone else. They're either in an administrative job or sales, mostly sales. They mistake arrogance for confidence and bullying for leadership.

Yes, they party hard, but they tend to be the people you avoid at parties. They dominate conversations and constantly try to humiliate and/or one-up anyone who does get a word in edgeways. And they get worse and worse as the evening goes on and their trips to the bathroom increase.

Potheads come in two types. Yes, there are the losers who mooch off others and spend their days puffing weed and eating snacks on the couch, but most of the ones I know are employed, usually in blue collar physically demanding jobs. They use pot to relieve both physical pain and mental stress. Maybe they're not as visible at parties, but at least they're not demanding to be the center of attention the whole time.

Fuck cokeheads.

giygusattack - 2015-04-07

Thats cool, you keep doing coke so you can work forever. I'm just going to relax with this pot, I've already finished my work for the day.

That sounds more like adderall to me, which does allow for me to get shit done. Everybody's different of course, but in the handful of times I've done coke I never feel like being productive. If I am, it's incredibly sporadic. I might feel like rearranging my room, and start, but then I'm doing something else. Plus I can't get it up. It basically feels like too much caffeine to me. Then again, I don't smoke weed anymore either.. DMT and alcohol (in moderation) all the way.

Cena_mark - 2015-04-08

Where this commercial really gets it wrong, is that it assumes these guys spend all of their increased profits on coke, thereby cancelling out coke's role in their success. They make way more money than the coke is worth.

EvilHomer - 2015-04-08

Cena's right, as always. The reason why the state doesn't treat cokeheads as harshly as it treats potheads, is because coke is a "winner's drug". Pot is a "loser's drug". Coke fuels America; pot just clogs its arteries, like cheeseburgers in a lower income neighborhood.

Cocaine's also harder to manufacture, meaning that the CIA can better control production and distribution, leading to far greater profits for the government. With pot, any old shmuck can stick growlamps in his closet and start his own unregulated home business. That's a frightening prospect - it's basically anarchy.

Say Yes to Coke, 'The Dust of Progress'®.

If this guy had one word to describe himself, what would that word be?
