can't see it in the US apparently

(cue spooky music here)

Bobonne - 2015-03-30

Canada, either.

"a claim by Remove Your Media LLC". How deliciously transparent.

infinite zest - 2015-03-30

I saw it yesterday. Ironically Edge of Tomorrow was being advertised as one of their new movies.

Oscar Wildcat - 2015-03-30

STOP ENTURBULATING MY BODY THETANS, YOU FUCKERS!

il fiore bel - 2015-03-30

I'd resubmit, but every YT link has a "CLICK HERE FOR FULL MOVIE" link within. Plus I'm sure someone is working to get those removed as well.

Anyway, if you have HBO, check your local schedule.

Enjoy - 2015-03-30

Dang. Someone post if they find a mirror.

jangbones - 2015-03-30

If you don't have HBO, pirate it

it's good

spikestoyiu - 2015-03-31

If you are a person with a computer in 2015, just torrent it.

infinite zest - 2015-03-31

I caught it at a bar that I knew had HBO. It was pretty fun. Usually it's just ESPN or something on without sound and people talking, but everyone in the bar was glued to the TV for 2 hours with little talking.

infinite zest - 2015-03-31

Glad it's on here but holy shit ads ads ads in very inappropriate places. Kinda sucks that HBO's being stingy with it; it's not like it's a new episode of Girls. Trying to watch it again I saw the same Frosted Miniwheats commercial like 15 times. Speaking of which, that Supergrass song feels really out of place anywhere outside of a drug montage in a movie.

Scrimmjob - 2015-03-30

I wonder if Mark Bunker's Knowledge Report documentary is ever going to come out?

kingarthur - 2015-03-31

The shit about Tom Cruise, the coup d'etat within Scientology, L. Ron's con-artist make-it-up-as-you-go and possible mental illness, and especially the shit about Nicole Kidman and that woman they basically groomed to be Tom Cruise's bride IS INSANE.

il fiore bel - 2015-03-31

Agreed. I try not to be invested in celebrities' love lives but DAMN. It's just sad to be told you're not good enough for your man because of who you're related to, and then have your own kids used against you.

And yeah, the new lady being hired/fired as Cruise's gf was just plain cray.

Gmork - 2015-03-31

I've had a theory about scientology grooming wives for specific celebrities to specifically convert them for a while.

Good/horrifying to know I was right.

Gmork - 2015-03-31

And yeah, I know that Tom was already deep into scientology when they tried to set him up with a girlfriend, but it's a formula they would go on to perfect. I bet will smith's wife is a scientologist. She is, isn't she.

I could give a shit about what celebrity is a scientologist, for the most part, but I am totally fucked in the head about Beck being one. I gotta justify it by assuming beck is too smart to actually believe any of it, and he's just paying lipservice so he doesn't get harassed. He pays his dues and makes his music. He just happens to be born to a man who was friends with Elron.

Bobonne - 2015-03-31

Yes, Jada Pinkett Smith is totally a scientologist.

Gmork - 2015-04-01

You could be sarcastic or serious, there is no indication. I'm going to assume you're being literal.

That guy - 2015-03-31

I think I hate Haggis too much to watch this anyway.

Lurchi - 2015-03-31

even ex-Scientologists are creepy

Anaxagoras - 2015-03-31

Man, you're not kidding. Everybody in this doc gave me the heebee jeebees, and L. Ron. Hubbard was the King Heebee Jeebee. What a creepy dude.

Spaceman Africa - 2015-03-31

This documentary was so good and eye-opening. I can only hope it hugely damages The Church.

infinite zest - 2015-03-31

It seemed like mostly stuff I had already known, but it's put together nicely. Thing that's strange to me is how Hollywood would let a movie like The Master, which is so thinly veiled they might as well have just made it a LRH biopic get so many accolades (including 3 best actor Oscar nominations). In fairness I haven't seen the film, but I'm pretty sure I know its M.O. That, and apparently the Church attempted to contact HBO and Gibney multiple times asking if they'd like to interview with the Church, which was ignored. It does mention that Miscavige declined an interview, but that's like doing a documentary about Catholicism and not being able to interview the Pope.

Scrimmjob - 2015-03-31

Yeah, hopefully they'll find David Miscarriage swinging from the rafters, you know, from his neck.

infinite zest - 2015-03-31

And, now that I think about it, Cruise's own parody of Miscavige in Anderson's Magnolia. Maybe they just have a sense of humor about the whole thing? I think it's a fucked up religion but no more fucked up than any other religion.

That guy - 2015-03-31

IZ, The Master is not a thinly veiled LRH biopic.
It's in that territory, but it's not especially detailed about him or the specifics about the CoS. It's about other stuff.

infinite zest - 2015-03-31

infinite zest - 2015-03-31

Whoops.. made my reply after your comment TG (just forgot to hit send.) Yeah, I meant "thinly veiled" as in it got a rise out of Scientologists who saw a connection (both were in the navy, both started a cult, etc.) not to mention if you watched the doc yet, holy shit Hoffman looks EXACTLY like LRH in that interview near the beginning. But yea, it's like making a movie about some long haired guy with a beard whom people followed around in ancient times and calling him Joseph Christopher or something, and the scene where Oingo Boingo shows up in the middle of the desert wasn't in the bible so it's not JHC we're talking about here..

That guy - 2015-03-31

You're talking about a movie you haven't seen, right?

The Master is not a thinly veiled LRH movie.

Lurchi - 2015-03-31

The Master would have been so much better if it were.

That guy - 2015-03-31

The Master is fantastic.

infinite zest - 2015-04-01

I was going off what I heard. I knew the Scientology community was not happy about it, and that's all I knew, but it was why the movie was making headlines, at least the ones I was reading. I should see the movie so that I can have a more accurate opinion, though, you're right. But to me it's kind of a common PT Anderson thing: Dirk Diggler = John Holmes and a few other porn stars rolled up into one, and Daniel Plainview = Edward Doheny. Not exactly the same, but a lot of parallels.

That guy - 2015-04-01

Don't try to figure out where the parallels begin and end, just watch it. The cult leader isn't the main character anyway.

cognitivedissonance - 2015-03-31

Huh, never heard of "egglab".

Huh.

egglab - 2015-03-31

I do a lot more lurking than posting, when I saw this on youtube I felt like it belonged on here though.

misterbuns - 2015-03-31

okay full disclosure, who here had an account on enturbulation.org around 2008?

That guy - 2015-04-01

You?

misterbuns - 2015-04-01

So I am the only one?
