It's true that LMO and I didn't always see eye to eye, but does anyone on this site ever? If you read our other interactions you'd see that there was little-to-no animosity. That being said, I'd like to pay tribute to her, but that's up to her friends who have taken over her account. She brought a lot of joy to poetv.

As for talking about oneself, it's not like I'm the only one who does it. You may recall LJs on poe-news stories that went on to the point where they'd be considered novellas (or in Don DeLillo's case, a novel.. zing) and I enjoyed reading them. It could've been about a story in Cincinnati and someone accounting their time living there and what they experienced which had little if anything to do with what happened. That's cool. I've never been to Cincinnati, and don't get the spaghetti chili thing. And if I don't want to read it/don't care, I just scroll past. Not hard to do. If this were YT Comments or even Reddit, I don't think these (sometimes) personal stories would be appropriate or necessary. You're either putting your little LJ in with thousands of Reddit comments, or whatever you have to say is surrounded by "LOLs" and "send this message in 5 days to 5 of your friends or you will DIE" type shit. On here, I'm facebook friends with some of you, and the rest of you I feel like I know pretty well even if we haven't met. So I dunno, sorry if I offended you Chocolate Jesus, but I'd take Paul Anka's advice and just don't look.

Yeah, I think a lot of Karl's humor derives from the fact that he's not so much an idiot, as he is honest. Ricky and Wheatley set themselves up as sophisticated, vaguely-slimy hypocrites - the Voice of Society, which I'm not so sure either Ricky or Wheatley have much faith in (Ricky is fond of quietly skewering the cultured class's postmodern pretenses in some of his other work; The Office and Life's Too Short in particular). This allows Ricky and Wheatley to play off Karl, adding subtle, vaguely disconcerting flavour-notes to what would otherwise be a perfectly straightforward "let's laugh at the idiot" bit. You laugh at Karl, but shortly thereafter part of you backs off and says, hey, wait; is there more to what he's saying? Is what I think I'm seeing, what I'm told I should see, really all there is?

I think it's why, for example, you'll often see some pretty heated reactions to Karl and R/W, far more heated than you might otherwise expect, given the content. Browse through the comments for their videos, on Youtube or elsewhere, and you will occasionally stumble across people who are furious at R/W - R/W, not Karl! - but aren't always sure why. I think this is by design. I think it's the oft-unappreciated "meta" element of this trio's work.

I don't know from video games these days, but if I understand correctly, the various computer voices often give misleading / incorrect information. So why couldn't they have a Karl Pilkington robot that's always talking about chimps that commit bank robberies and people with candles in their heads?

They did, he was in the bin along with the others at the end of the game, but didn't wind up getting used in the final battle strategy.
