Might I add that this sort of genre bending is fine for a comic book or pulp novel, but probably not a successful gambit for a millions of dollars budget movie franchise? Then again, they did give us AVP 2...

It's a fan film, not an official feature. Although in fairness, neither a multi-million dollar Predator film based on this idea, nor it looking this crappy, would surprise me.

This holiday season a joyless preditor crashlands at the northpole. It's up to Santa and co. to open his heart to the spirit of christmas before they are all skinned and hung upside-down from oversized candy canes.

Have they made a Predator vs. Predator movie yet? I never really thought of all Predators as being evil.. it's no different than a movie about deer hunters from a deer's perspective: the humans hunting them are evil, but it doesn't mean there aren't a lot that don't do that. I'd like to see Predator cops and robbers, Predator secret agents vs. Predator supervillains, things like that.

Inter-Predator conflicts are solved through drawn-out bureaucratic processes. They're incredibly frustrating, which is why they keep flying around the galaxy and killing things.

They covered this in at least one of the comics.

Predators sorta pitted them against each other, but the film didn't do that much with it.

I pick up every Predator/Alien thing I find in discount comic-store bins, and I can say that this movie has a more compelling concept than a lot of Predator comics. Most of them are just Predator vs. Soldiers in Some Other Part of the World.

Glasseye's conclusion is correct; due to their gear (not to mention the anachronistic Female Legolas Knights Templar), my own educated guess would be that they are LARPers. However, SCAers would probably use butted chain, instead of "real" i.e. riveted mail. Butted mail offers inadequate protection against piercing weapons, but it looks the part, is much cheaper to buy, and is often the only sort of Ye Olde Maille available from commercial retailers.

It helps to remember that there is a hierarchy here. Just as the Internet has a hierarchy (PoE > SomethingAwful > 4chan), so too does the world of medieval dorkery (HEMA > SCA > LARP). They are not all equal.

Anyway, I'm disappointed they used the normal Predator, I was hoping it was going to be a shot-for-shot remake of the original using only period-appropriate technology, that would have been a lot better. I guess the Predator would have to be some kind of wandering Mongol or something.
