Might want to correct the spelling in the title, as it's "Stratten", not "Stratton". The woman who's name actually is spelled Dorothy Stratton was far less easy on the eyes and was famous for far more important reasons than this unfortunate beauty.

Cena_mark - 2015-03-14

Dorothy Stratton was the director of S.P.A.R.s (Semper Paratus Always Ready) which was the Coast Guard's women's reserve during WWII. They named the third National Security Cutter after her.

Caminante Nocturno - 2015-03-14

She also slept with Hugh Hefner, though.

Which one?

Hooker - 2015-03-15

Hold on. The robot from Galaxina was part of the coast guard?

EvilHomer - 2015-03-15

> Which one?

Both!

Even before it gets to the weird blame game, everything and everyone involved in this story gives me douche chills.

The next time I watch through The Sopranos, I can have a real life reason for being put off by that character.

Caminante Nocturno - 2015-03-15

Good god, everything about the 70's is horrible.

Lurchi - 2015-03-15

Star 80 is an all-time great, and a must see for anyone who liked Boogie Nights

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2015-03-15

The part that shocked me, and that I that I didn't see in Star 80, was Bogdonovich going after Dorothy's younger sister. It seems weird for Hefner to publicly accuse Bogdonovich of an improper relationship at a press conference, but he must have been onto something, since they married later. Bogdonovich later played a magazine publisher apparently based on Hef for Law and Order: Criminal Intent. He played him super creepy, and now that I know the history of the two men, that seems telling.

More shocking than the necrophilia? A middle-aged gentleman becoming infatuated with a beautiful teenage girl is a little gross, sure, particularly when that girl was once like a daughter to him... but come on Mr Holmes, at least his behavior was understandable. We've all known people like Bogdonovich, haven't we?

Caminante Nocturno - 2015-03-15

Just about everything Bogdonovich did after Stratten's murder was a result of emotional trauma. Looking at this documentary, it's clear that nobody involved in this tragedy ever fully got over it.

I guess he's from the Woody Allen school of directing.

>>More shocking than the necrophilia? A middle-aged gentleman becoming infatuated with a beautiful teenage girl is a little gross, sure, particularly when that girl was once like a daughter to him.

I meant the part that shocked me about this video. The alleged necrophilia (I'm not sure it was ever established with certainty if the rape was pre or postmortem) appears in STAR 80, which I saw years ago, so it was old news, but Bogdonovich's involvement with the younger sister was all new information. Also, it was Peter Bogdonovich, a name I've known for most of my life.

You know, the relationship lasted almost 20 years. He married her. So I guess he wasn't trifling, but how does it seem normal to be fucking the sister of the murdered girl? Did you notice that when he married the sister, she was 20, the same age as Dorothy when she died? And there he is, all of these years later, talking about how Dorothy was the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen. What was this marriage like for the sister?

>>We've all known people like Bogdonovich, haven't we?

Not really, no. But then, I've never known anyone who has experienced this kind of loss.

EvilHomer - 2015-03-16

I'm just saying it's understandable. If Boxxy got murdered, and Some Guy had the chance to marry her nearly-identical kid sister, don't you think he'd take it?

He's a lonely old man, cut him some slack wouldja!

This girl I went to school with, Bronwen, when her parents got married, her dad was in his 60s and her mom was twenty-something. My own father was fifty when he married my stepmom, and she's only a few years older than I am. And Catherine Howard was, what? Like sixteen when she married the fifty year-old Henry VIII and became Queen of England?

I don't judge you, John.

Caminante Nocturno - 2015-03-16

There's nothing wrong with a gentleman going after a younger lady.
