Damn, the Commodore64 version holds up better than this.

TeenerTot - 2015-02-21

Are you sure this isn't based on the chop shop scene from Adventures in Babysitting?

Old_Zircon - 2015-02-21

I'd pick up a used PS2 to play that.

hammsangwich - 2015-02-21

You don't have one? I keep mine around for Baldur's Gate:Dark Alliance.

Pretty accurate depiction of Eddie Murphy's comedy circa 1992 to present.

BHWW - 2015-02-21

"What the hell is going on?" I was going to say, obviously "The Heat is On" but after watching this I'm very unsure of that.

Nominal - 2015-02-21

Jesus. This is like the XBOne coming out with a Beverly Hills 90210 game.

Can I be That Guy and say BHC isn't that great? The only good joke that holds up is Eddie's reaction to finally conning his way to a hotel room.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2015-02-21

True story: I was touring a school and one of the kids ruined one of the better BHC jokes. There's a scene where Murphy has a bag he claims has explosives in it and bemoans that no one will support his two daughters, "Monique and Unique."

I met a girl whose parents had named her "Unique." :(

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2015-02-21

If you're supposed to be Axel Foley, you're the whitest-looking Eddie Murphy character ever, and that includes his infamous Richard Simmons portrayal.

The mid-00s really seem like the worst time for gaming in terms of development. Sure, there will always be stinkers, but at least the Mario clones of the 90s still felt like Mario, and most games at least look pretty now. This is just pure ugly with no effort and a movie license.

Sanest Man Alive - 2015-02-21

"EVERY GENERATION AFTER MINE IS GARBAGE"

Thanks grandpa. Please, tell me again how you were totally gonna revive General Leo and gay-marry him before your best friend stole your FF3 cart and moved away.

Nominal - 2015-02-21

Nah. The worst was the late 90s to early 00s with first generation 3D. Every company was obsessed with switching over to it even though sprites still looked a million times better. Games didn't shake shitty 3D until around a year or two after Max Payne.

infinite zest - 2015-02-21

Yeah, I guess I am glossing over the Bubsy 3Ds and focusing more on the Goldeneyes, Mario 64s, Crash Bandicoots, Quakes.. I could go on but it seemed like there was still a lot of effort that had to go into it whereas this looks like something they just frankensteined together with a pre-existing engine.

I tested this game for nearly 2 years, my god what happened. Just crouch to win the game because the AI shoots over the top of you at point blank range. For some reason axel foley is white and his sign off line when killing the end boss is, "Have a cold glass of dead." Genius waste of my life.

BiggerJ - 2015-02-21

My suspicions were correct; this was published by Blast Entertainment, a shovelware publisher that specialized in titles based on licenses that are cheap because of their age or minor-ness.

It is totally unfair to acquire some of those properties and treat them like shovelware. The Xena game should have been world famous for years due to its explicit lesbian vagina mechanics, and the Paddington Bear game should be considered superior to most Eastern religious teachings about our place in the universe.

These could have been so wonderful.

BiggerJ - 2015-02-21

I personally consider their treatment of the Mr. Bean license to be a very special kind of heresy.

Little Britain? I was curious so I looked up a few reviews, all of which were from British-sounding people. Synopsis: "terrible game based on a terrible show." Do British people not like that show? I've never met anyone whose thoughts on it were anything less than "eh, it's pretty good."

sasazuka - 2015-02-22

Is there a "soundalike songs" tag for the "not quite Harold Faltermeyer's Axel F" theme music?
