That cost me nothing, that mug. heheh.

Ranma X, did you even get to the Oscar Pistorius bit? It's one of the funniest bits I've heard in a while.

baleen - 2014-12-04

kinda douchey.

fedex - 2014-12-05

kind of a misogynist prick at the start, but makes up for it with the gun bit

It's hard to tell with comedy. Is he reenforcing/expressing those attitudes or calling attention to our implicit constructions of gender in order to mock them?

Regardless, that anal sex seems like a good idea because "You can't smell porn" is an important piece of social commentary.

Anaxagoras - 2014-12-05

He was reinforcing/expressing those attitudes. It wasn't hard to tell at all. You noticed how he simply assumed that men walk like this, while women walk like this? That's reinforcement. Not only that, it was reinforcing archaic views that don't even mostly hold true. I don't know a single woman who acts like a cunt over Valentine's Day. Not a one. And his thing about "Just don't spend my money?" That's classic old school patriarchy. "Heh, I make the money, the bitch spends it. Heh. Heh." Yeah fuck you buddy.

This dude totally belongs here. I had to stop after that toxic first 15 minutes. On the recommendations of the other commenters, I'm returning to watch the rest of his set. I hope to hell it's better than the first part.

Anaxagoras - 2014-12-05

Yeah, OK, he gets a lot better, although he does use the tired argument "Don't take it seriously. It's just a bunch of jokes."

Yeah, fuck you, buddy. You don't get to be a misogynistic asshole just because you're telling jokes.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2014-12-05

I'll be honest, I mainly submitted this for the last 20 minutes, and the gun bit, which are both great.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2014-12-05

Also I tend to give misogyny in comedy a pass because I think many times it's all part of a persona that comedians create. Jesselnik is one of those, he has sort of perfected being a jerk on stage for the association of it. And it works, and I don't think Jim honestly hates women or looks down on them, he's making fun of his own horrible thoughts. A lot of comedians do this and I tend to think very few of them are honestly full of hate.

Except for Gallagher.

#NotAllWomen

Listen, if you or any women you know don't fit the profile he's describing, than he's not talking about you. Just shut up and listen while he describes his lived experiences.

ashtar. - 2014-12-06

He's explicitly generalizing about all women. Inability to distinguish existential from universal quantifiers is a hallmark of MRA logic. But, I'm sure your wicked takedown of whatever feminist strawman you're tilting against would garner you much highfive on avfm.
