Apologizing for domestic violence and implying that women should know when to shut up is a rather poor choice of phrase. It seems to indicate that ashtar's "Youtube MRA" really does believe that gender is an important factor here, and that women should operate under a different set of rules that define when they can and cannot be beat (i.e. when they are defiant towards male authority). They should not: men and women should be allowed to beat, or be beaten, equally and without regard to their dangly bits. Equal rights, equal fights.

That said, Hazlenut, you are correct: this particular incident was, if the filmed segment can be believed, almost entirely the girl's fault. It would be better if the YT commenter had left gender out of the discussion completely -

"And this is exactly why violence occurs. People antagonize others and put them in that position. In this case it's a train and there is no way for the berated victim to walk away. The antagonist had it coming running her mouth like that and she should of known where to put it to a stop."

Dude. What is wrong with you. Guy went from "here's this woman being a dick in this video and getting hit sort of quasi-deservedly but still out of proportion" to "men beat their wives cause bitches are uppity."

Brino, the only heartbreaking part here is what we don't see. We don't see how this young lady got to a point her her life where she is on a NYC subway picking fights. That's the heartbreaking part. The slap didn't kill her. Probably left a red mark. Red marks that should have been left on her ass years ago by her surely absent father. Now she has a chance to examine her embarrassing life and ride the subway like a civilized person.

What an awesome advert for Google Glass. The guy didn't have to slap her, I don't think anyone should ever hit anyone, guys hitting guys is my biggest problem, but those fights start the same way. If he was being ridiculed for wearing Google Glasses there would be some pretty good evidence for a judge.

She thumped him on his shoulder with what appear to be shoes. He cracked her hard across the face with his hand.

The contact appears to happen just out of frame to me, so I'm not so confident she only hit him in the shoulder. Not that it should really matter. Don't hit someone you wouldn't want to hit you back. Should he have taken the time to take off a shoe and hit her with precisely the same level of force on her shoulder?

She was charged with felony assault. He was charged with misdemeanor assault.

I am not even joking about that.

It's nice to know that this vile woman will never again be allowed to own a gun, apply for public assistance, or participate in the democratic process, however tangentially, through the act of voting. Let this be a lesson to all those shoe-drunk face-slappers out there: America shall NOT tolerate your slapping ways!

Also, Brino you need to relax man! She got what she had coming to her and hopefully was taught a lesson that day. If nobody ever hits the bully, the bully won't stop. I recall a girl in junior high who had great fun going up to guys and pretending she was going to hit them just to see them flinch, then laugh at them. I always had hoped someone would just swing back and end her reign of terror. Nobody ever did, to my knowledge, but I can take some satisfaction that there are brave men out there who fight back. Good for 8-ball-jacket-guy.
