Jet Bin Fever - 2014-11-06

It's weird enough watching it now. I can't imagine being an insomniac up at 4am, believing I hallucinated the whole thing.

kingarthur - 2014-11-07

I work graveyard 5 nights a week. I caught this out of the corner of my eye while it was muted. Then a day or two later with the sound on. Surreal both times, especially the killer stalking the cast.

baleen - 2014-11-06

Adult Swim is one of the most brilliant media companies that has ever existed. Their marketing and their branding and everything is just fucking genius.

infinite zest - 2014-11-06

A friend of mine in Atlanta knows pretty much everyone at Williams Street, and I started writing a TV show that I could pitch to AS. Think Portlandia but with Ketamine. And they loved it. But now it's kind of in a holding pattern due to assholes who do the drugs I only like to write about, etc. etc. etc.. I'd love to crowdsource this show via poeTV users and will be so bold as to post the link to the page on poe's facebook for possible ideas if anyone's down.

cognitivedissonance - 2014-11-06

Bro, I'm here for you.

baleen - 2014-11-06

I am curious.

Xenocide - 2014-11-07

I severely want to see this.

Xenocide - 2014-11-07

Also I had no idea POE had a facebook page. All I found when I looked were some people hugging zoo animals.

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-11-07

What's the name of the facebook group, anyway? I can only find zoo animals as well.

baleen - 2014-11-07

I created the page when we all thought the site was going down. It is now being used rarely to post things but there's not too much going on in general.

Old People - 2014-11-06

I'm so glad I never gave up on drugs.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2014-11-06

I believe this would have genuinely scared the shit out of me if I was up a 4am and saw it without explanation.

apiaryist - 2014-11-06

This should be someone's magnum opus. If it's a signal of better and greater things to come, I'm not sure my own creative id can handle it.

cognitivedissonance - 2014-11-06

It's like Cabin In The Woods, only actually funny.

The Mothership - 2014-11-06

Really, truly excellent film is unpredictable.

This is also fantastic because it lampoons as well as it satires, a balance rarely achieved.

Sexy Duck Cop - 2014-11-06

I dunno, I thought it had a fairly reasonable amount of cooks.

infinite zest - 2014-11-06

I think this is "Off The Air." It's sort of a collection of things AS finds on youtube, or to be more accurate, stuff you find on poeTV. So someone's fever dream at 4:20 AM is pretty much our monday morning with coffee. Or whiskey. Or both.

infinite zest - 2014-11-06

For example, this beautiful piece of animation was on there one night:

http://vimeo.com/27582815

but they didn't use the Guided by Voices song, probably because they couldn't.

infinite zest - 2014-11-06

This also feels very 80s like Chris Elliott's Action Family. Right down the the topless babe for no reason at all.

infinite zest - 2014-11-06

Also what's the thing at the end? Is that Cyriak?

kingarthur - 2014-11-07

I dig Off The Air. It's a fun little treat on a long night shift. Except for their "scary" or "Nightmares" episode or whatever you call it. That thing is fucking terrifying.

Spike Jonez - 2014-11-13

Off The Air is awesome, but this is from a show called "Infomercials." They're all pretty funny, but Too Many Cooks is hands-down the best.

Maggot Brain - 2014-11-06

My brain magically figured out the joke too soon so I'm not going to watch the whole thing. Five stars for the sheer vulgarity.

themilkshark - 2014-11-06

You need to watch all of it.

cognitivedissonance - 2014-11-06

No. The joke does, in fact, get better.

Maggot Brain - 2014-11-06

Do I have to watch the whole thing start to finish? Just skipping you get the idea, even the murder plot stuff.

fluffy - 2014-11-06

You missed so much doing that.

infinite zest - 2014-11-06

It does get into Youtube Poop territory towards the end after we all got the joke, but it's still worth watching.

baleen - 2014-11-07

Take your ritalin and watch the whole thing.

Maggot Brain - 2014-11-07

Oh~I see, it was a virus and the crazy guy was trying to stop it, also C.O.O.K.S. Still feel like I could of flipped around a few more times to pick up on this stuff. The magic of doing something like this goes back to what Jet Bin Fever wrote earlier, channel surfing early in the morning and not knowing if you're asleep or not. The joke that all this based can only go up from where it starts and given the track record of live action shows at some point it's going to verge off the grotesque and go beyond the point of no return. No, the amazing thing here is that they aired this on TV at all when they could of have just as easily ran another re-run of Family Guy.

Monkey Napoleon - 2014-11-07

This is so much better than a brand new episode of Family Guy, much less a re-run. I get that you don't like their live action shows (maybe you would if they were full of lowest-common-denominator pop reference jokes), but part of the appeal of AS since they stopped showing anime has been weird experimental stuff you normally wouldn't see on TV.

So what I'm saying is what you actually don't like is Adult Swim.

That guy - 2014-11-08

"could of"

Bort - 2014-11-06

Still shorter than the credits on "Bones". I'd much rather watch this.

That guy - 2014-11-07

The four-way marriage or whatever that was.

themilkshark - 2014-11-07

This was really fucking amazing seeing it on adult swim in the middle of the night on TV. I had no idea it was going to progress into something else other than just a loooong credit sequence. Somehow it really distorted my perception of time because I was captivated, and it felt like an hour had went by.

American Standard - 2014-11-07

I did not expect that.

Xenocide - 2014-11-07

Ah yes, the classic season one intro.

Of course, the show didn't really hit its stride until season two, when they added that new character.

Gwago - 2014-11-07

What Hell Sounds Like tag? Because let's be honest the video stopped ten minutes ago and I'm still hearing it.

Herr Matthias - 2014-11-07

god DAMN that fucking song doesn't leave your head ever

Also the names listed are actually the names of the Atlanta-area struggling actors they got to be in this thing.

13.5 - 2014-11-07

IMDB has a cast listing with names for all the characters. They break with convention in the Cybernetically Optimized Operational Knights of Science segment--cant all be related in the space navy!--but they do it well

"Lt. Jen Sizzle"

exy - 2014-11-07

The horrible anguish of the people-become-nametags.

Bort - 2014-11-07

It took a second viewing for me to figure out what they were doing.

TOO MANY COOKS!

Hailey2006 - 2014-11-07

The things I see being parodied here
*Full House
*Clarissa Explains It All
*Alf
*Roseanne
*Dallas
*GI Joe
*Wonder Woman
*Battlestar Gallactica
*Star Trek
*The Brady Bunch

I think they need to make this a series!

That guy - 2014-11-07

It also very much kinda goes with this:

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2014-11-10

Also Family Matters, Chips, the list goes on...

and that Smarf is just a barrel of laughs!

jreid - 2014-11-07

This fucking song has been in my fucking head for more than 24 hours now.

Also this is fucking brilliant.

pyslexic dharmacist - 2014-11-07

Beautiful.

Old_Zircon - 2014-11-08

This has been recommended to me by too many people in the last 12 hours, I kind of don't want to watch it now.

fluffy - 2014-11-08

You have always been watching it, your whole life.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2014-11-11

Just resubmitted it. Because you CANT STOP THE COOKS. THERE ARE TOO MANY OF THEM.

chumbucket - 2014-11-11

The other day I planned on spending much my family time finding opportunities to pose as if ready for a freeze frame or title shots in a sit com opening titles sequence. Favorites included: "guns atcha", "thumbs up", "head shaking in agreement" "head shaking in disbelief", "the wink", "mouth open in surprise", "duck face" and "head back in maniacal laughter".

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2014-11-11

I think my favorite is the "too bored to be here because you already showed me in the credits", "can't believe how crazy the baby is" face, "what are YOU doing here" face, "falcon face", and of course, "model pose on a spaceship".

bongoprophet - 2014-12-07

best thing all year
