what did the pixies pull?

One of the first shows I went to when moving out of my parent's house was The Jesus Lizard and Six Finger Satellite. I was 17 years old and in the front row. It changed my life.

The singer for SFS was a giant of a man and kept spitting on the ceiling and catching it in his mouth as it dropped. He also put bills in his pants and made dudes in the front row pull them out with their teeth.

Then The Jesus Lizard came on. Approximately 2.5 seconds into their set someone threw firecrackers at the drum kit which seemed to burn Mac McNeilly but he just kept on playing.

David Sims their bass player kept telling a photographer to stop getting in his face. When the photographer did it again, Sims smashed his tuning pegs right in the camera, breaking the camera and possibly the guy's face in the process because there was instantly quite a bit of blood.

David Yow spent the majority of the set in the crowd naked or with his jeans pulled down past his knees. Some guy beside me was holding a piece of paper and a pen trying to get a signature and Yow ripped the piece of paper out of his hand, wiped his ass with it, and then gave it back. For the rest of the show, the guy was trying to hold on to the piece of paper but touch as little of it as possible.

Being a small town prairie boy I have never seen anything like this show and the only show that has come close in terms of sheer insanity since was GWAR.

yes! I heard similar stories but this one's especially good. Scrimmjob the pixies decided reunite and make terrible new songs.

Ah, I knew they were touring again without Deal, but didn't know they were recording new stuff. Is it worse than any of Frank Black's solo stuff?

I never got in to Jesus Lizard for some reason but Scratch Acid's first EP is easily one of the best rock albums of the 80s if not ever, and their reunion show a couple of years ago was one of the best shows I've ever seen.

Yeah.. you might have looked it up by now but they have a new album. They were also my favorite band in high school and I even arranged a string quartet to do Gigantic for my wedding. Black lives in Portland and my ex and I turned out sitting next to him at what used to be the Long Goodbye and I finally worked up the liquid courage to say "hello" that's how much they mean to me. Indie Cindy isn't "terrible" per se, but yeah it's worse than most of Black's solo stuff.

Reuniting without Kim wasn't the plan. They reunited with Kim and then she split.

Oh yeah, way worse than Black's solo stuff, at least like Cult of Ray, Teenager of the Year solo stuff.
