2:53-3:20. The whole thing is great, but that's when I knew this was something truly special.

What really strikes me about this is just how poorly Mr Casio-Sweater regards the intelligence and patience of his audience. I know 80s Casio liked to market towards casual players, rank beginners, and "middle-class family" impulse buyers who didn't give two shits about music, but come on! He doesn't even try to conceal the contempt he has for us! "Now, WAIT, I know these are BIG WORDS I'm using, but don't skip this part! DON'T SKIP IT, DUMBDUMB, IT'S NOT *THAT* HARD. C Maaaajjjoooor, C Maaaaajjjjjjjoooooorr. Huuddduuuuuuur........ you retards."

What a jerk!

Casio does make some really nice mid-to-high end digital pianos, but it's hard for me to take them seriously after having grown up with shit like this.

In all honestly, there are plenty of people who love music but couldn't tell you the difference between a major and minor key, or that there are things called key signatures, or time signatures, or key modulations, etc. Or for that matter tell you any modicum of music history prior to 1990, or 1980, or in some rare cases 1960 or 1950. From what I remember in college music classes, most of the 'unwashed masses' weren't able to do basic music theory - or even figure it out.

Oh, no doubt. My problem isn't so much that he thinks we don't know basic music theory, but in the way he assumes we're too dumb and impatient to learn: whenever he gets to a bit of theory, he makes some patronizing, passive aggressive comment about not fast forwarding and sticking with it because blah. Granted, it's possible that he's *correct*, and that most people would indeed just tune out and skip through things like sight reading 101, but he doesn't haveta make it so obvious that he knows we're idiots.

I had a similar problem with that math toilet video a couple weeks back, where the guy made a big scene about skipping over the in-depth mathematical bits.

Yeah, Privia keyboards are *amazing*, and trying to convince anyone of this who ever played with a Casio keyboard in the 80s is pretty much impossible.
