Almost as savage as the California genocide where white prisoners were unleashed from jails into the state after gold was discovered and they literally massacred entire villages. The Indians there were low tech even in comparison to other groups across the continent. The result was the US government paid for every head brought in to trading posts. A dollar a head! Who could turn down that little temptation? In the heydey of the genocide they were paying a head, especially for children. They would string the heads on poles and ride them across the valleys as symbols of American pride.
