Mission Accomplished

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2014-06-18

What is it about that song? You could waterboard me, and I wouldn't be able to name anything else by Sir Mix-a-lot, but it's still getting referenced 22 years later, and not just every now and then.

Gmork - 2014-06-18

The message of the song is timeless. Big butts make the rockin' world go 'round.

EvilHomer - 2014-06-18

What about "Monster Mack" off the Beavis & Butthead soundtrack?

infinite zest - 2014-06-18

It's universal.. I think a lot of us live in the Pacific NW and I hate to say it but Mix is pretty much the only rapper from these parts who's instantly recognizable coast-to-coast. He's also been a karaoke hit that's hard to follow up (I learned that one the hard way.. do NOT follow up Sir Mix A Lot with Fleetwood Mac. Not even if it is your birthday and you're drunk.)

infinite zest - 2014-06-18

whoops.. forgot the middle part.. for example I saw Ron Jeremy and Sir Mix A Lot walking down the street on Saturday night.. Mix just kind of has a presence up here and I think that's why you see more of him on poetv than probably anywhere else.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2014-06-18

Fun fact: Baby Got Back was very narrowly beat by Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" for highest selling song of 1992.

garcet71283 - 2014-06-19

That and we seem to have really good memories in the Pacific NW. Case in point, Nirvana still gets airplay like they just released Nevermind but as soon as you go south of the Columbia river it is clear that the rest of the country has moved on.

Azmo23 - 2014-06-18

achievable by virtue of a lifetime of monotonous deliveries. kudos?
