dupe dupe (arguably, anyway)

http://www.poetv.com/video.php?vid=24206

EvilHomer - 2014-06-15

It's a different video... but the dupe checker didn't pick it up, and I almost submitted that one instead. :(

Do you know much about Dragon Dragon? I know he's a dragon, and I know he's dead, but that's about it.

Hooker - 2014-06-15

I don't actually know much about Chikara, but I'm pretty sure he's a rarely used character.

Cena_mark - 2014-06-15

Chikara makes a mockery of wrestling. They do nonsense that looks like it belongs on Power Rangers.

EvilHomer - 2014-06-15

You say that like it's a bad thing, Cena.

EvilHomer - 2014-06-15

Speaking of, do you have an opinion on Kaiju Big Battel?

Oscar Wildcat - 2014-06-15

Wrestling makes a mockery of wrestling. Doubling down on nonsense is sense? Or -1/12. Something like that.

Hooker - 2014-06-15

If you're asking me, I know less about KBB than I do Chikara, but while Chikara _is_, in fact, a wrestling company that puts on typical wrestling matches and simply changes the tone to be more outlandish, my (extremely limited) knowledge of KBB is that it uses wrestling as a backdrop to put on a children's-style sort-of play.

Again, I want to stress here that I may very likely be totally wrong about this.

EvilHomer - 2014-06-15

I've been following KBB off and on for almost a decade now, and I'm still not sure exactly what it is! It's certainly not a "true" wrestling promotion, and the guys who organize the shows don't consider themselves as such. I'd probably say they approach wrestling in much the same way as GWAR approached punk music.

Chikara, I know next to nothing about, but they seem to like fursuits?

Gmork - 2014-06-15

An authority on wrestling has confirmed to me that Chikara is definitely a luchadore-inspired comedy performance involving wrestling.

Hooker - 2014-06-15

Chikara performers tend to either be regular wrestlers (current WWE standout Antonio Cesaro it more associated with Chikara than anywhere else) or lucha (i.e., masked) wrestlers. Very, very few actually go full fursuit.

Cena_mark - 2014-06-15

I don't watch either of those so I can't make an opinion. I don't waste my time watching the minor leagues. I watch real deal wrestling. The WWE is the only wrestling you should watch. Subscribe to WWE Network TODAY!!!!

EvilHomer - 2014-06-15

I wish the WWE would have more crazy stuff like KBB or Chikara. There just isn't any wrestling promotion out there that incorporates the best of all worlds - the drama and storytelling of WWE style wrestling, the badassness of puroresu, and the sheer fun of lucha stuff. Or at least, if there is, it doesn't have enough of a budget to realize it's potential.

K-DOJO is probably the closest thing to my ideal wrestling promotion right now, but it's not very popular at all over here, and I haven't found any good sources for match videos. Maybe should Vince rehire Taka Michinoku and, instead of wasting him on some racist gimmick, give him free reign to start his own mini-brand, like the ECW?

Old_Zircon - 2014-06-16

I used to have a practice space next to the KBB workshop for years, they threw good barbecues.

I've got their first VHS but I never watched it.

Gmork - 2014-06-15

did this happen in a church's multi-purpose room?

CornOnTheCabre - 2014-06-16

RIP Dragon Dragon
