Watching this reminded me that I've never actually noticed that Diane might not exist.

Well there's one fan theory I'm glad they shot down

Excellent Angelo Badalementi impersonation. I must have stopped watching by this time.. was this kind of the beginning of the adult show parodies? They do other adult shows like The Sopranos or Breaking Bad (I think) but I don't think they did it with my generation (let's just say 1983 to 1987). Like I don't remember a parody of Scarface with Cookie monster snorting a bunch of cookies at the table.

From a strictly parental pedagogy point of view, I'd have a hard time explaining to kids exactly what the reference is. Not just the show but the plot itself. When I was a kid, drugs were lumped into one category: D R U G S don't do them. Mafia guys were bad because they shot people and committed crimes. So don't do that. But explaining the story of Twin Peaks to a small child who asks for context is a mouthful.

They did all kinds of parodies even before this.

Some notable ones before this; in fact, here's the Mental Floss stub where I ripped this submission from.

Page not found. :( I mean there were definitely things like Miami Mice and others, but my point was that if a child asks "mommy what was Miami Vice" they probably won't mention the cocaine. Just that it's two good guys who stop the bad guys. With Twin Peaks, I'd have a hard time explaining the story without mentioning Laura Palmer.

you have to remove the extra spaces that pasting on poetv inserts.

This is a dupe but damned if I can find the original.

baleen - 2014-05-23

I couldn't either.

Kid Fenris - 2014-05-23

If this isn't on the new Twin Peaks Blu-Ray set, I'll be sad.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2014-05-23

It was also the title of a Darkwing Duck episode that made Bushroot into Laura Palmer, complete with being found in the river in a plastic bag. That really creeped me out as a kid.

This is also mildly creepy, because it makes me think the town of Twin Beaks is near a radioactive nuclear testing site.

There's a lot of great ways to make fun of Twin Peaks. This did a great job, and so did the Simpsons.

This is a really shitty quality version of the clip I'm referring to, from Season 9 "Lisa's Sax"

my favorite was from the "Who Shot Mr Burns" episode but this one was pretty good. I forgot this was from Season 9, after most of us (including myself) say it wasn't funny anymore.

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-05-25

I always draw the funny line around season 10 or 11. There may be a good episode or two in 12 too, but that's about it.
