David DeCoteau's other film A Magic Puppy is equally amazing, and was made using the same locations and a few of the same actors.

Old_Zircon - 2014-04-28

I didn't know about that! Just this and the horse one.

StanleyPain - 2014-04-28

The horse one is already out???? Oh man....

Old_Zircon - 2014-04-28

Maybe it isn't but the trailer was up here last year.

Oh yeah, I saw A TALKING CAT on a bad movie Internet stream a few months ago.

I love how the cat's mouth when he talks is a dark, dark, toothless abyss. ("Oh God! I can see forever!")

Janis Peebles is kind of cute, though.

I'd read her beeping machine.

kingjackhammer - 2014-04-27

I skipped to 36 minutes in. Not a lot of cat talking, but a sweaty old man gets his game on.

EvilHomer - 2014-04-28

23:30-25:00 is a talking cat part.

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-04-27

Saw it on Netflix a while back. Most of it is boring, and you find yourself just waiting for drunk Eric Roberts to sloppily deliver his next line. Also, the young male lead really sets the gaydar spinning. It wouldn't matter if he wasn't scripted to be lovesick over the girl so much.

I clicked to around 18:20, and this is just Garfield with an aging guy who used to be in a punk band, right? RIGHT!?

Is anyone surprised David DeCoteau worked under Roger Corman? Anyway, his IMDB listing is... extensive:

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0213983/

Apparently, his "as Mary Crawford" alias is for more family friendly fare, while he's got a "1313" production house for soft-core gay pr0n movies.

Old_Zircon - 2014-04-28

I actually AM a bit surprised, I'd have guessed Fred Olen Ray. Roger Corman seems a little too high class for this guy.

One of my favourite parts of this movie is the dad is scripted as a computer programmer, but the shit he says makes it abundantly clear that the screenwriter only took a COMPSCI 101 course. It's astonishing to watch.

Also, I'm just gonna come out and say it: I remember the actresses (with the exception of the older woman, who has the posture of an orangutan) being remarkably attractive.

Old_Zircon - 2014-04-28

I wouldn't be surprised if this guy does the standard Corman/Fred Olen Ray/etc. routine of drawing from the same pool of actors for both his family movies and his softcore movies.

StanleyPain - 2014-04-28

The older woman (whose name escapes me for the moment) was in that porno version of Alice in Wonderland that was really famous at one point.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2014-04-28

You're thinking of Kristine DeBell:

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0213374/?ref_=tt_cl_t1

She did a ton of U.S. TV before winding up at 1313, including "Eight is Enough," "CHiPs" and "Night Court."

Old_Zircon - 2014-04-29

Oh wow, I didn't even recognize her!
