who would have guessed a fantasy cartoon videogame weapon would be unrealistic.

BHWW - 2014-04-21

this is truly a burning issue that required a 15-minute long video devoted to it.

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2014-04-21

Seriously all those weapons are ridiculously heavy and inefficient compared to sarin gas. The character would be able to fight much more efficiently if he just released sarin gas upon his opponents. duh!

dairyqueenlatifah - 2014-04-21

Yeah man, who would have thought a giant key in a series of games where people fight armed gunmen with swords and staffs and dolls and megaphones would be useless in real life combat?

oddeye - 2014-04-21

It's not even a blade!! OMFG!

Redford - 2014-04-21

It's almost as if he's making a video series where he's taking an experimental and theoretical view into the actual real world properties of fantasy weapons because he finds real-world arms and armor fascinating or something!

Gmork - 2014-04-21

5 stars for faggots who play JRPGs getting their butts hurt.

SolRo - 2014-04-21

Red; it's a real shock that a magical weapon is useless when no longer magical

Next in the series - Guns; terrible weapons if you have no bullets

misterbuns - 2014-04-21

JRPGs are the worst.

Gmork - 2014-04-21

WHOOPS WE FORGOT THAT ITS A MAGIC KEYBLADE EVERYONE I GUESS WE ARE STUPID HUH

Boy do I feel silly not taking into account that: MAAAAAGIIIIIIC!

Gmork - 2014-04-21

PS If you want to know the correct inflection of the word "MAAAAAGIIIIIC!" just watch the video "Kittens inspired by kittens" video here.

EvilHomer - 2014-04-21

Actually, to address Mr Purple Cat's idea, I don't think sarin gas would work, as Sora's enemies are some sort of undead shadow creatures with (presumably) no respiratory system. The sarin gas would simply kill him and leave his opponents unharmed.

However, sarin gas might work against the Disney villains, like Jaffar or Maleficent (he fights them, yes? I haven't actually played the game, but I assume Disney villains are featured as bosses)

SolRo - 2014-04-21

Gmork, your gun stupidity is making you think I care about the game. I don't. Never even played it.

I just find the concept behind this video idiotic

Also; go suck a gun barrel

oddeye - 2014-04-21

EvilHomer yeah some of the Disney Villains show up, at least in the part of the first game that I played, but there are also giant shadowdevil bosses and shit too (think Fantasia's Night on a Bare Mountain) as well as other boss monsters.

Haven't checked but wouldn't a review of Conan's sword from the Arnold movies or Braveheart Claymore make more sense? Unless this is a joke review which I am assuming it is.

dairyqueenlatifah - 2014-04-21

There's only one person here getting "butthurt" and it's unironically the guy calling other people "butthurt".

It's just a lame, tryhard, stupid, borning, unfunny video with no redeeming qualities, positive nor negative. Being in favor of/opposed to the source material he's talking about isn't an issue here.

Caminante Nocturno - 2014-04-21

I'm butthurt right now because I just accidentally sat on my keys.

EvilHomer - 2014-04-21

Oddeye - it's a new feature he's testing out, a joke review but done as honestly and objectively as he can. He usually does reviews of more sensible weapons, as well as somewhat more sensible but nonetheless still quit ludicrous weapons, like steampunk hatchets or whatever. He has done reviews of movie weapons (he likes Riddick's daggers, but does not like The Kurgan Sword from Highlander), and I believe the Braveheart Claymore is on his list of things to do.

And dairyqueen, I'm sorry the Keyblade doesn't work. If it makes you feel better, the YT comment brigade posted quite a few rebuttals.

BHWW - 2014-04-21

Breaking News: Gunblades as seen in Final Fantasy game would be highly impractical, please watch my incredibly pedantic and redundant 20 minute Youtube expose on this issue for the ages.

Riskbreaker - 2014-04-21

You guys need a little vacaction from the internet

oddeye - 2014-04-21

I can dig it, EvilHomer.

Kid Fenris - 2014-04-21

JRPGS are the best.

Old_Zircon - 2014-04-21

Skallagrim is like bizarro-Lindybeige.

EvilHomer - 2014-04-21

That's a good way of putting it! Skallagrim, like Lindy, has some remarkably insightful and (occasionally) well-researched videos on sword nerdery, but while Lindybeige comes off as an eccentric university professor who gives awesome history lectures and is probably under internal investigation for sexual misconduct with his students, Skallagrim comes off as the alpha nerd at your local goth-industrial club, who runs a popular Vampire LARP and sells quasi-legal weaponry on the Ren Faire circuit. Personally, I don't like Skallagrim as much as Lloyd, as I feel his theatrics (the steampunk hats, the dragon shirts, the showing off of his girlfriend like some girlfriend-having show-off) distract us from the underlying educational content. BUT! I can see how his shtick would appeal to teenagers and nerds, so if dragon shirts and Viking Metal goatees get young minds hooked on academic-grade HEMA porn, that's fine by me!

memedumpster - 2014-04-21

Worth every penny I paid him to help me promote my Lock Shield, WHICH HAS NO WEAKNESSES NOW!!!

oddeye - 2014-04-22

What about the Keypick? Lower proficiency bonus but high-crit property and some proper brill feats to boot. Double if you are a gnome.

Caminante Nocturno - 2014-04-21

Oh man, I can't wait until he tries to test Raising Heart or Bardiche!

bopeton - 2014-04-21

I want to see the retarded Klingon swords from Star Trek.

Sudan no1 - 2014-04-22

Always detested the Kingdom Hearts franchise, but knowing that the main character's wrist and thumbs would be mashed to a pulp puts a darker spin on things.

cognitivedissonance - 2014-04-22

Considering Shadowhearts with Star Wars and Marvel Comics is now possible, things could be interesting.

Also, Goofy dies.
