Be sure to check out all the reasonable, well-adjusted comments.

Scrimmjob - 2014-04-16

Holy shitzki, you ain't kidding.

bongoprophet - 2014-04-16

And the irony is of course that it is easier than ever to be man these days, yet in spite of this we have PUAs, M'Ladys and MRAs fighting amongst themselves who gets to wear the fedora of stupidity.

Just pick any identity other than those, and you'll be fine kids, even golfer!

Old_Zircon - 2014-04-16

The sketch is 4 stars at best (it's not bad but the topic was played out a year ago and the body image jokes aren't magically better because the gender roles are reversed) but the comments more than make up for its shortcomings.

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-04-16

Oh yeah, 3 star video, 7 star comments.

Miss Henson's 6th grade class - 2014-04-16

Hey, those guys weren't that fat. Or at least I hope not, because I'm about as chubby as they are.

Old_Zircon - 2014-04-16

Me too, and perhaps more importantly so are Amy and the other woman.

Incidentally, I watched the "Herpes Scare" sketch in the related videos and it's kind of funny but there's this really uncomfortable "getting herpes is your own fault for being a slut" subtext that's obviously not deliberate but very real and kind of gross.

CornOnTheCabre - 2014-04-16

I disagree with the Herpes Scare subtext. It clearly showed her not wanting to call any of her former partners to let them know she was infected, meaning that yeah, it probably was her fault -- but because she was an irresponsible asshole, not just a sexually active woman.

BorrowedSolution - 2014-04-16

I'm going to just assume that they're all upset about inaccurate stereotypes that of course do not represent them at all, and yet need to be VIGOROUSLY debunked.

But with much, much more crying and foul language.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2014-04-16

Wait, you WERE kidding about the comments being reasonable and well-adjusted, right?

Meerkat - 2014-04-16

What's an MRA? Meals Ready to Attack?

TSR - 2014-04-16

That'd be Men's Rights Activists; along with furries, the Internet has been great for bringing the socially maladjusted together.

oddeye - 2014-04-17

In what areas, other than custody battles maybe, do women have more rights than men?

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2014-11-16

>>Yeah it's a joke and nice guy hobbits have an entitlement whining thing going on, but people like JHMF really do exist who ironically dehumanize women when they consider them to all be blameless creatures without flaw.

Strawman.

>>Sure. But let's be clear that JHMF's problems go much deeper than simply having a double-standard for how men and women get treated in the war of the sexes.

What can I say? It's not easy being an underaged girl with a compulsion to seduce older men,

Spit Spingola - 2014-04-16

Basically perfect.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2014-04-16

Ouch.

That really hurt, but I'm giving her 5 stars, because I'm a nice guy.

PegLegPete - 2014-04-16

Yep, this hits very close to home for probably everyone.

Gmork - 2014-04-16

Comments dont disappoint.

That guy - 2014-04-16

This isn't that much of a sketch, but now I can't gripe about the subject because of the comments.
Thanks, fedoras.

Caminante Nocturno - 2014-04-16

Maybe the people writing those comments are acting that way to make the guys depicted in this video look better by comparison.

Hooker - 2014-04-16

This skit is hilarious. I don't understand where the standard lies with some of you. Kee & Peele skits walk through here often sucking to a five-star parade.

Also, the comments section alerted me to something called "red pill," which was another horrid little rabbit hole of the Internet. So, ten stars in total.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2014-04-16

I have to side with my good friend Hooker on this. This is a great sketch,
sharp and insightful, though actually saying "Milady" has become a bit of a sitcom cliche.

I just learned about the RED PILL last week, in the comments section to that shitty poem about Kurt Cobain being killed by feminists. Oddly enough, many MRAs actually see themselves as tough-minded realists who can handle the ugly truth about life, and not chronic crybabies who blame feminism for the fact that they hate thier lives. How quaint.

Too bad about fedoras, by the way. Once upon a time, they were just nice-looking hats. The good news, I guess, is that I can go back to wearing berets.

infinite zest - 2014-04-16

Shit. I was halfway through writing a little sketch about this based on my app idea, which I didn't finish even though evil homer thought it was not a bad idea, even though it could potentially become a real life chat roulette. Back to drawing board. People complaining about Okc and finding out that everyone's in Oklahoma City? Oj Cupid? Occupy okcupid.. I dunno :)

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2014-04-16

I'm sort of making this up as I go, and I got a lot of shit to do. This seemed very profound when I was writing it, but that could be the adderal talking.

I'm starting to notice some discussion going on about what I shall call "the myth of the Nice Guy". As an unmarried man of a certain age, living with a certain number of cats, I think this is long overdue.

In my opinion, feminism takes a lot of the blame for social changes that have been driven by the rise of corporate culture. It's a good thing that more women work, but if adding to the workforce, and making two paychecks the standard (so you don't have to pay as much) wasn't in the best interests of our corporate overlords, it wouldn't have happened.

I don't expect all of history to converge on the goal of making me happy, but I don't agree with whoever said that it's easier to be a man than ever before. The Nice guys and the MRA are both brought up to believe that having sex is essential to being A REAL MAN. The biological compulsion to have sex is, of course, powerful, but the idea is built into our culture that fucking is for winners, it's built into how we see ourselves. And I think that message is reinforced more for the last few generations than for any other generations, because sex sells, and so sex is often what our mass media corporate culture is selling.

The powerful biological urge to have sex is tied to our self worth. Meanwhile women have become more self-reliant. The immature response is to lash out at women and feminism. I don't have time to write a essay about what the mature response was. I just wish I'd seen something like this a long long time ago, and was able to relate to it. I was a jerk, for a long time, but I didn't get it, and now that I get it, I'm old.

You ever see a TV show, and two guys are talking about how long it's been since they had sex, and one guy confesses that it's been over 3 months, and the other guy is just amazed? I submit to you that these guys live in fantasyland, but countless men who have not had sex in much longer are watching this, and thinking to themselves, in the privacy of their own mind."I suck".

You don't need sex, and you aren't owed sex. Lots of awesome dudes haven't gotten any sex in a long while. Men who are getting sex are not always happy. Getting sex is not worth demeaning yourself with either callous, unethical or overly self-effacing behavior, but even if it was, such behavior is not guaranteed to get you sex. There is no way of behaving that is guaranteed to get you sex, so maybe you should just forget about it for the next 15 minutes.

Scrimmjob - 2014-04-16

*************************************************************

ghost stars for you motherfucker.

PegLegPete - 2014-04-16

Nice writeup there, you're a very genuine person Holmes, and on the internet that's rare. You're reminding me of how everything but corporate culture gets blamed for the degradation of families. It blows my mind.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2014-04-17

I just logged out of myredbook after reading that.

I DON'T NEED SEX.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2014-04-16

This perfectly and totally encapsulates a former friend of mine. He would fall in love with women and tell them like, a year or two later. While they were dating someone else.

oddeye - 2014-04-16

Hobbit's are a different race than humans.

Nominal - 2014-04-17

You know, m'lady, there's hurting their feelings, and then there's NOT accepting expensive gifts and offers of free moving men...

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2014-04-17

I think you're seeing this sketch as attempting to let women off the hook more than it actually does.

The bottom line, however, is that gifts are gifts. There are MRAs in the youtube comments talking about how accepting gifts without putting out is "abusive" and that's just horseshit.

In real life, the dynamic is more usually more subtle than in this comedy sketch. Looking back at my own history, most of the gifts I offered to women were not that expensive or elaborate, and not acccepting them wouldn't have made me any happier. I always knew how gifts worked, and turning me down would have just put a spotlight on how desperate and pathetic I was.

asian hick - 2014-04-17

You know, friends often help each other move because that's how normal people interact. Accepting that help doesn't mean you're leading someone on and it doesn't mean you owe your "friend" sex. That's something only a demented Nice Guy would believe.

Hooker - 2014-04-17

Haha, what? Have you never had a woman you're not interested in flirt with you and shit? I've turned down gifts as small as a banana from women like that simply because holy shit do I not want to send the wrong message.

Sure, you're not leading someone on by accepting a gift, nor are you indebted. However, women don't get off the hook for not understanding what the fuck is really going on simply because they're women.

That said, this is a joke, Nominal. I don't think Schumer or her friend actually do this.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2014-04-17

>>Sure, you're not leading someone on by accepting a gift, nor are you indebted.

>>However, women don't get off the hook for not understanding what the fuck is really going on simply because they're women.

I don't understand. If they're not leading someone on, and their not indented, what is this "hook" you speak of?

I guess I'm being shifty, since I mentioned "the hook" first. I know there's a hook out there somewhere, but the bottom line is that people are ultimately responsible for their own actions, and gifts are gifts. Whatever the respective genders the hook is vague, and ever moving. The bottom line is the bottom line.

And it's not always wrong to accept kindness from people who are more into you than you are into them. Sometimes, in a small pathetic way, it makes them happy.

Nominal - 2014-04-18

Yeah it's a joke and nice guy hobbits have an entitlement whining thing going on, but people like JHMF really do exist who ironically dehumanize women when they consider them to all be blameless creatures without flaw. It derails any kind of debate on advancing humanist mutual understanding when you polarize the two genders into "male" and "perfect".

You'd have to be a monk or a liar to claim that women never knowingly lead guys on to keep the gifts and attention rolling in, just like it's crazy to say that men always say "I love you" sincerely when sex is on the line.

Anyone with the halfest baked social skills can pick up the difference between platonic friendship offers and romantic undertones. It's insulting to imply that women are too clueless to understand that. To say someone is socially and emotionally stunted for reading into a guy constantly buying a woman 0 i-phones takes some world class blinders. I'm sure it's just a coincidence that all the youtube celebrities JHMF champions for are all attractive young girls.

But at least John is honest that he prefers the illusion to keep the attention away from his creepiness.

Hooker - 2014-04-18

Sure. But let's be clear that JHMF's problems go much deeper than simply having a double-standard for how men and women get treated in the war of the sexes.

... what the?! This video is over six months old, and you log-in to post *that*?

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2015-04-16

Shut up, Homer.

>>I'm sure it's just a coincidence that all the youtube celebrities JHMF champions for are all attractive young girls.

Of course it isn't a coincidence, Shit For Brains, because attractive young girls are most often singled out for harassment.

Although, in the case of Catie Wayne, the fact that she's so adorable has everything to do with why I enjoy her videos and occasionally remix them. How could I pretend otherwise, and why would I want to?

>>You'd have to be a monk or a liar to claim that women never knowingly lead guys on to keep the gifts and attention rolling in, just like it's crazy to say that men always say "I love you" sincerely when sex is on the line.

Are you saying that I claimed that? Show me where.

>>Sure. But let's be clear that JHMF's problems go much deeper than simply having a double-standard for how men and women get treated in the war of the sexes.

If you want to be clear about that, Hooker, you can start by explaining it to me.

Do you really think that the double standard is coming from me, and before I came along, everything was equal?

If 4chan started photoshopping pictures of you into Bukkake porn, and your face with a gaping asshole for the mouth, and posted cartoons of you being murdered and your corpse sodomized, and threatened to rape you, and told you not to post videos or there would be consequences, and then hunted you down, and started coming to your house, do you suppose that I would be okay with that?
