Blah blah fetish joke blah blah.

So the second ad seems to imply that they want to stop cams because it lets the people in the audience know that they don't have to go to the fucking theatre any more?

There's something strangely beautiful about anti-piracy PSAs. They're like the millionaire media executive's version of the Ballad of John Henry!

Yonder lies a movie makin' man, Oh Lord
Yonder lies a movie makin' man.

They seem to have stopped anti-piracy things in cinemas where I am. Maybe they finally realized that all the pirated movies come pretty much direct from inside the sudios or whatever.

I'm also reminded of those few years when they started printing patterns of red dots right on the film, which you could see during the movie. Haven't seen those in a long time.

It gets the point across better than "you wouldn't steal a car.." blah blah blah.. I'd steal that girl's heart, but I can't because she's now incarcerated for downloading "no more.mp3" it would've been our first song, if only she'd bought it off itunes instead. Le sigh...

towards the end of celluloid when I was still a projectionist it got pretty fucking crazy, especially with the "For Your Consideration" oscar nominees. There'd be this fucking keycode on the case itself and the studio would give the code at midnight (westcoast time, usually) to open it up so we could start building it. Many of these films were close to 3 hours and took at least the same amount of time to build correctly. I guess the studios thought that projectionists were the people bootlegging this stuff, even though by the end of building it I never wanted to see it again in my life.

"Piracy is a crime!
So dont steal any boats"

I like that :)

That lady clearly has the hots for Movie Thief, and Siren Man is targeting her for it.

Why people buy crappy video camera versions of movies is beyond me. You can't wait a whole month for it to come out and look decent, even if you are getting it by illegal means?

infinite zest - 2014-02-08

The only crappy video camera version of a movie I've watched recently was "Spring Breakers," because for some reason the others wouldn't work. I'm glad I did, because it was low quality and shaky, and looked more like the Harmony Korine I used to know than the finished product probably did.

When I was in Japan, I used to see these clips before the movies played at the theatre I went to. The characters from these clips are so popular that poseable figures of them were released.
