MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

Pope Caius - 2014-02-10

Congratulations to Bort for being the final, deciding vote.

Bort - 2014-02-10

Haha! I knew it would be worth voting up.

So, is the video any good? I haven't watched it.

EvilHomer - 2014-02-10

It's a half hour of a fat brony showing off his guns and swords. Also he really likes Korn.

It's great.

Pope Caius - 2014-02-10

He's also a Juggalo.

exy - 2014-02-10

He is definitely NOT one-dimensional, let's just get that straight right now.

BorrowedSolution - 2014-02-10

Damn, haven't been paying attention to the hopper enough.

Okay well I might die in a car accident in the Rockies today, so if you never see me again, tell Gmork he's retarded for me!

Gmork - 2014-02-10

That's cute you remembered me but I didn't remember you!

The New Meat - 2014-02-10

CHECK IT OUT, I'M INTO GUNS AND KNIVES BUT I'M ALSO INTO PONIES, DID I JUST BLOW YOUR MIND

I have never met anyone who was totally into guns and knives who wasn't a total overcompensating dorkwad, so, no, I can't say I'm at all surprised that you would be into ponies too.

The New Meat - 2014-02-10

Also, Christ, you gross breathy-voiced manbaby, could you at least not chew gum through your pointless pony screed. You don't need any additional help being gross and off-putting. Your beard's already doing all the heavy lifting on that.

RocketBlender - 2014-02-10

This whole thing just reinforces my theory that MLP is the new swaktika tattoo. Bronies are just attention starved, waiting for you to look at them funny for their pink cartoon shirt do that they can tell you the true meaning behind it, how dumb and close minded you are for judging them without understanding the true meaning behind the swastika, I mean show, etc.

SolRo - 2014-02-10

So badass you have to tell the internet

Cena_mark - 2014-02-10

Its easy to be an internet tough guy, but you have to let people know how badass you are in real life to be an IRL tough guy. I'm one.

DavidBowiesLuckyTennisBall - 2014-02-10

Seeds of a heel turn right there

Cena_mark - 2014-02-10

No. Its not a change of character. I'm just expressing how badass I am. I didn't become a wuss through being a liberal or pony fan. If anything I became more badass.

Cena_mark - 2014-02-10

You don't want to overcompensate. I only own 1 gun. Its a .357. Its a badass gun and I only need one because I'm not overcompensating. Also I can tell you how badass I am in a a few seconds. Anyone taking almost a half hour is definitely overcompensating.

Old_Zircon - 2014-02-10

How badass, exactly?

EvilHomer - 2014-02-10

The worst part is, he doesn't actually use that half hour to tell you HOW he's a badass. He simply reiterates his thesis statement, over and over, again often in the very same words, and makes no effort to expand upon the theme. Taking an hour to tell us how badass he is is bad enough, but the least he could have done was found enough material to *warrant* a half hour video.

"I watch ponies, but I own swords and I own guns, so I am still a badass." There, done. That's all he says, that's all he needs.

Another thing that bothers me about this is the implied assumption that watching ponies is somehow NOT badass, or worse, that watching ponies is anti-badass, and one must work extra-hard at being a badass in order to make up for it. It's the classic "MLP is un-maly" myth. This, of course, is not true; as I have argued elsewhere, MLP is one of the most unapologetically badass shows on television. The MLP-is-gay myth tells us more about society's tendency to privilege the male experience than it does about the show or it's fanbase - MLP has one of the broadest and most sophisticated takes on gender ever conceived of here in the West, and if it challenges anything, it is challenging our notions of *femininity*. And not just traditional views of femininity (which are a popular target in the modern imagination) but also the femme-hostile narratives of mainstream Second and Third Wave feminism! Ain't nothing threatening to guys here!

By engaging in this dialogue, Mr Badass Pony is giving weight to an issue which carries no weight to begin with. He should have taken the high road, like Bill Nye refusing to get sucked into Ken Ham's "Darwinists are Nazis" fagdance.

Or perhaps he truly doesn't believe that MLP is congruous with masculinity? As you say, Mr Badass Pony is clearly overcompensating. He is obviously not secure enough in his manhood to just go with it, so of course he's not going to be thinking and behaving rationally.

Xenocide - 2014-02-10

My only firearm is my party cannon.

I know how that sounds but it's not a nickname for my penis. It's an actual cannon that fires parties. FOR FRIENDS.

Anyway, let's spent the next 23 minutes and 52 seconds talking about my penis.

DavidBowiesLuckyTennisBall - 2014-02-10

I spunked my stars on Cena, but Xenocide deserved them more.

Cena_mark - 2014-02-10

Yes, Xenocide's comment was amazing!

The New Meat - 2014-02-10

Childrens cartoons

Old_Zircon - 2014-02-10

Stars because for a brief instant I thought the thumbnail on the main page was Lemmy.

exy - 2014-02-10

His singalong is pretty badass.

EvilHomer - 2014-02-10

One thing I did like was how his OC was an Earth Pony. I don't really like Earth Ponies myself, but you know, I respect that decision.

What I didn't like about that was how his OC, like so many other OCs, was basically just his own personal avatar - it was HIM as pony, right down to the crossed sword Cutie Mark.

Cena_mark - 2014-02-10

I don't have an OC, but I prefer Earth Ponies. My favorites of the Mane cast are Applejack and Pinkie Pie. Maybe its for the same reason I like Batman more than Superman. I can relate more to a character without super powers. I'm down for the struggle. Applejack might not have magic but is still freakin' awesome.
So what would your OC be then? Unicorn or Pegasus?

EvilHomer - 2014-02-10

I have a bunch of OCs, and most are Earth or Pegasus (being as they are all from a primarily working class Manehattan neigh-borhood). None of them, however, are "me". My mane OC is Applejack's estranged cousin, the half-Earth/ half-Zebra pony Ganja Twerk, but she's not really anything like me. She has a few of my flaws, I guess, but she is very much her own character. Some of my OCs, like Klop Killah and Plot Twist, are almost polar opposites of me, and a bunch are just there for comic relief (Dirty South, Filly Blunt, and that ParodySue Japonyese Alicorn whose name changes every few weeks). The one OC that I can *most closely* identify with on a personal level is probably Faygo Dream, but even that is pretty tenuous, as I am neither a stripper nor a juggalette.

If I was forced to make an avatar OC, he'd probably be a Pegasus. My two favorite ponies are Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy, and my two favorite background ponies are Bulk Biceps and Derpy, so Pegasi for me, no doubt. But I respect Earth ponies, and you've raised some good arguments in favor of them before.

Pope Caius - 2014-02-10

Being pope, I guess I'd be an alicorn by default.

Jet Bin Fever - 2014-02-17

Fine, I'll 5 star this fucking thing.
