Homer was actually better off this way. This Episode was from 1996. Two years later the Broncos won the first of 2 straight Superbowl wins. Homer wanted the Cowboys who haven't even been to one since.

RockBolt - 2014-02-02

My fellow Denver-ites have been ragging on me for years that the Simpsons' many cracks at the Donkies that I always liked to quote were out of date, now I can bring up this one again:

"Thanks to that patented Elway last second magic, final score of Super Bowl 30: Denver 7, San Francisco 56!"

I'm only imagining "Coming up on tonight's simpsons: Homer goes to Seattle and smokes weed with the... (((SEA HAWKS)))." God I miss good Simpsons

infinite zest - 2014-02-02

cut to gag where ..."BRONCOS" sound bytes are disposed of and wind up in a landfill in the middle of the ocean, and Lisa gets upset. Turns out it was just Lisa's dream. The Broncos won and Bart got an A+.

EvilHomer - 2014-02-03

All would be forgiven if (((SEA HAWKS))) was said in Mr Black's voice. Well, most would, at least.

infinite zest - 2014-02-03

heh yeah Mr Black that was my reference. They did it again on the "Homer Goes to the Superbowl" ep. because they had to record the voices before they knew who was going to the Superbowl.

infinite zest - 2014-02-03

It's been a while since I've seen that (a really really long time actually..) but yeah they just covered their mouths and a really bad voice over said the two teams playing that year back and forth. I wonder if that's still in syndication or if they just cut it out completely.

infinite zest - 2014-02-03

feeling nostalgic. This was back when I wanted to watch the Simpsons but stupid Fox Football would kick back and sometimes cancel the shows entirely for the week for all their post-game rhetoric. I only caught the last 7 minutes of this year's game but it was pretty much like "hurry up and get it over with, this show starts at 7pm and catch everything else on ESPN. Here's some show starring Zooey Deschanel where who happens to stop by? The artist known as Prince."

EvilHomer - 2014-02-03

Denver Bronies!

What's with all the Superbowl submissions? Was the Superbowl on? Did I miss it?

BorrowedSolution - 2014-02-03

Poetv's been infiltrated by faux nerds.

EvilHomer - 2014-02-03

Dude, gimme a break, missing the Super Bowl wasn't a hipster thing, I just had more important things to think about. Weird Al was on My Little Pony this weekend!!!!

In my defense, I knew it was coming up soon, because of those quarterback interviews posted here a week or two ago.

RocketBlender - 2014-02-03

Weird Al was on MLP? Really? Like, as a character in the show, or did he just write one of their songs?

infinite zest - 2014-02-03

Missing the puppybowl is a hipster thing. I went into several bars trying to catch that shit because the bar I used to work at would have puppybowl on one tv and superbowl on the other (more people watched the puppybowl)

EvilHomer - 2014-02-03

Harumph, you insult me, sirs. I am a British-American. Missing the Superbowl is part of my cultural heritage, a very sacred part, and I'll be damned if let any "hipsters" take that away from me, all because they're so culturally empty that they need to suck sacred traditions away from the rest of us. It's like Californians getting Maori tattoos, yes, exactly like that.

I am sad I missed the puppybowl, however.

And RocketBlender, Weird Al was a pony AND he wrote some songs! The whole episode revolved around his character; I don't want to give away too much, but he's a party pony, sort of a mixture between Weird Al and Clint Eastwood, and there's a pretty intense rivalry with Pinkie Pie. There's even an awesome musical number where he and Pinkie do a polka-fied duet!

The best part is, the whole episode was inspired by a fanmade PMV (Pony Music Movie, for the non-nerds). Weird Al and one of the show's producers saw it on Youtube, and liked it so much that they decided to do last weekend's collaboration.

Puppybowl had a Keyboard Cat impersonator. The fact that you people condone that makes me fucking sick. What happened to this place?

BorrowedSolution - 2014-02-03

EvilHomer: I'm just going to pretend that you're making shit up because the alternative is depressing. Good job, you heartless animal.

EvilHomer - 2014-02-04

No, it's all true. Look it up. There's Weird Al pony videos all over the place now! I'm hoping he becomes a recurring guest, like John De Lancie.

And Keyboard Cat (like all cats) has always been kosher on the poe network. Maybe some of the grumpier bo-nies lurking on poe-N found Keyboard distasteful, but I think you'll find that Pubbybowl appreciation means nothing has changed. In fact, I'd argue that if anything, cat faggotry is at an all time LOW; when was the last time someone posted a cute cat video? They used to account for at least two thirds of the submissions here.

DavidBowiesLuckyTennisBall - 2014-02-03

Is this the same Simpson's episode where Homer keeps saying 'Denver Broncos' with his hand over his mouth?

EvilHomer - 2014-02-03

This was the episode with Hank Scorpio, the Bond villain Homer briefly worked for. Mr Scorpio gave Homer the Broncos as a severance bonus at the end of the episode. Homer was expecting the Cowboys.

BorrowedSolution - 2014-02-03

Still one of my favourite episodes.

bac - 2014-02-03

Season 8 episode 2: You Only Move Twice.

Oh, the hammock district.

Xenocide - 2014-02-03

The one with the covered mouths was "Sunday Cruddy Sunday," which has Rupert Murdoch guest starring and calling himself a "billionaire tyrant."
