The Thing looked a LOT better in Corman's movie than the big budget version, and Doctor Doom wasn't as stupid.
It's funny. The Fox version of FF was made for the same reasons (contractural, to retain the rights), had a bigger budget, and sucked just as much, if not more, when the money spent is taken into account.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2014-01-14 Yeah, same with Sony and the Spider-Man & X-Men franchises. Eventually, I figure Marvel/Disney will use some of that Avengers money to buy back the rights.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2014-01-14 Chiklis was decent, though the costume/effects for him just didn't sell The Thing for me. The actors I really disliked were the ones for Sue and Reed. Reed's actor (I can't even be arsed to google his name) was just flat and dull, while Jessica Alba was an excuse for an underwear joke every 20 minutes or so.

GQ - 2014-01-14 I cannot see Marvel ever buying Spider-Man or X-Men back. Those have all been WAY too profitable to Sony and Fox respectively to give them back for ANY lump sum.

I didnt find the recent Fox FF film particularly bad. I mean I dont judge those kind of Hollywood films are *real* films but it seemed like an average example of that kind of thing. I would rate it similarly to the avengers or batman films and whatnot.
